I love your channel but when I see Pontiac I love it more keep them coming

77 yrs old and I've had 260s, 289s, 390s, 406s and a 429 CJ in my years. I really loved all my old cars but I also love the more modern engines we have today. They are more like the racing engines of my youth. Hey, I know they're all Fords but I grew up in the Dearborn MI area and knew many people from my paper routes and neighbors that got me fantastic deals on many things.

Great job Nick and Phil on this engine tuning. Nick another nice job rebuilding this engine correctly.

NICK & the boyz doing the PONTIAC hustle tonight!!!   :hand-orange-covering-eyes::cat-orange-whistling:

Cleanest running and most reliable engine I ever had was a 389. Started right up, ran clean and pulled like a freight train. Loved my Catalina!!

Good looking and sounding engine, thanks for having it on your channel.

OOHH yea 500 flbs of torque. I could see that when you were goosing the throttle and the engine was flexing the motor mounts. Very nice.

Pontiac-YEAH!  GOOD TO SEE YOUR BRO WORK'N WITH YOU ALSO, AAH!

Who Remembers H-O SPECIALITY  out of California back in the day ??  Pro Pontiac parts and cams dealer ...Did some business with them in the early days ..Good People

I did my apprenticeship at a Pontiac resto shop.
On more than one occasion we had a GTO come in with a fresh rebuild and the owner complaining that it had less power than the worn out RA3 did.
Pressure tests showed 110psi and sure enough it would have lots of value notches and low deck heights.
It’s something that’s so often overlooked.

I have my dad’s ram air 4 judge. He bought it new and I bought it from him when he got cancer and it’s going to my son some day.  We love our Pontiac at my house.  All the good companies are gone

Dana "60" Glass. Pontiacs are great motors. Always loved the fact that you can't tell a 326 from a 455 from the outside. The 400 turned out to be a versatile power plant from '67 to '79  Firebirds, Grand Prix, Bonnevilles, LeMans etc. Would love to see the '70 GTO convertible it's destined for.

My cousin and I swapped out a 6 cylinder for a 400 4bbl pontiac engine in a Chevy C10. That thing would smoke the tires at 50mph. She was fast. Ended up hitting a deer at around 65mph one night on hard compacted snowy road. Hood flew up and had about an inch to see where we were going. Backed up to get the deer, it was quite a ways because it was hard to stop. Found deer in ditch, dead. Left it there because its bones were like jelly. I dont think there were any bones that weren't shattered. The truck had 4" concrete filled pipes for a front bumper. Probably why the bones were all shattered. Those were good days back then. Early 80's.

I love the Pontiac story engine spun a bearing 2 weeks after rebuild. Hit close to my heart. Mine did the same thing. But it got me home. Had to drive it about 40 miles. It was like someone was sitting on the engine block bangin on it with a sledge hammer. Had to pull it out and take it to machine shop to have it checked and 30 over bore. The machinist mentioned that it looked like it ran out of oil. And that is what happened I had to pull it out 3rd time just to install deep oil pan and high volume oil pump. Original engine baerly reved to 5k rpm. After some mods 6x heads switched to older 62 heads and Buttler boys RAIV profile cam this thing screamed and scared me when it ripped past 6k rpm. Thanks for the memories Nick! I miss that 79TA with a darn Super T10 4 speed! Oh for the critics these are times before cell phones you either drove them 40miles or you walked them!

Its nice to see a dyno graph vs the numbers only

Love them old Pontiac engines. Built a few myself over the years. Slowly building one now.

Runs good. Qjet carburetor is what it would be happy with.

The old Pontiac 400's were great engines..

Always giving your best Quality build and Dino testing Thank you for sharing

Oh, how l was wishing for a tri-power setup in the very end...especially the demon complete kit for the Pontiac powertrain....D/Sgt Gordon
