I bought my R1150 GS off the showroom floor in 2001 and drove it till 2026 without any major repairs, Tires, brake pads, oil and filters and every scheduled maintenance. I only sold it, at age 77, because of a wonky heart. Otherwise I would never have parted with it!

I bought my ‘16 Super Tenere in ‘19 with 14K miles, now she has 53K miles. Many multiple state trips, new fork seals @ 52K miles, she always fires right up, love the shaft drive, and she boogies on the highway. No other bike compares.

I have been riding a Honda Transalp 600 for the last 33 years and 123000 kms - zero problems !
I would swear by this bike

I am 63 just sold my Africa twin and bought a 2011 super tenere xt1200 love will take it to the grave

Shaft drive on Africa twin? Yes, the first model that was made 4 years, then chain from the -90s. I have seen two. Had the 750 for 17 years, 250000 km, the 1000 the last 8 years. We just passed 177.000 km's. The services kost a fortune. It takes hours to remove all the plastic. I feel I have paid the bike twice! I was driving faster with the old 60 horse engine than with the new 95. Horses is not so important when everything else is perfect. I miss the 750, in my opinion the best bike ever made!

Yamaha Super Ténéré XT1200Z Between 2012 and 2023, Yamaha sold 47,000 Super Ténérés in North America. 83% are still owned by original buyers. That retention rate is insane

Thanks so much for making the DR650 as your No.1. Mine is 21 years young and 72500km on the clock. Thanks for sharing!!!

Xlv750 was shaft drive. Africa Twin chain. I’ve got a CRF 1100L. Amazing bike. Had a Vstrom, Super Tenere, TDM 900, KTM 990. Had the AT for 6 years. Another bloke near me has over 200,000 klms on his CRF 1100 DCT. Zero issues. I’ve seen VStrom 650’s with over 300,000 on them. Again, consumables only.

I own a 2015 Super Tenere ES. Made two trips around the Great Lakes, starting from Quebec city. Never had a problem. Whatever the weather, comfortable and well protected. Love the shaft drive peace of mind. Will have to let go of it as at 77, it is proven too heavy for me. Sad.

15:56 KLR650... NEEDS THE DOOHICKY MODIFICATION

My 2003 V-Strom 1000 had a front fork so bad, I doubt whether anyone at Suzuki ever rode one. Under sprung but over damped, under hard braking the dive was so extreme it once yanked the bars out of my hands. The cure was new springs and 5 weight fork oil. The windscreen was also badly conceived and had to be replaced. An odd problem occurred at 45,000 miles. All the magnets on the flywheel migrated to one side so it wouldn't charge. When I sold it at 70,000 miles, the fuel pump was getting noisy.

R1200GS BMW 2005 I sold it with 220000 km without any single problem. I got R12G/S because of its looks. BMW forever

The XT600 range and the TT600 range also. They are still up there with the Dr 650. All the big old Japanese singles! I have a 97 Belgarda TT600. Starts second kick every time, and with a 23ltr Acerbis tank, it's good for 400ks+. More on the road, will never sell it!

Had to replace my final on my ‘08 BMW R1200RT, but was still running fine at 127k miles.

Got a tenere, always looking at bikes but nothing works better than the tenere. Tons of miles not one problem

I loved dr650 perfect bike for really remote places

Got a Yamaha XT 1200 from 2018 with 65`000 Km now. The bike is bullet proof, very reliable but a little bit heavy. I have a new CF Moto 1000 MTX now as a second bike. There are worlds between in handling of the two, the only thing I miss with the CF Moto is the torque of the ship diesel like engine and the combined brakes from the Yami.

I have a 2024 Super 10. Love it. Yes, it’s heavy. But you know that going in. The instrument display is grotesquely outdated. It appears Yamaha did not care about that aspect. Reminds me of looking at a Casio watch from 1995.. Other than that, the bike is a beast.
