Mushroom Kingdom evicted and banned all Miis, which comprized majority of the mall's customers.

THANK YOU, it's sad seeing the state Coconut Mall has been in. I remember going there with my brother and mama luigi when I was a kid and it was so full of life and shoppers and pesky plumbers and pasta and pasta and saus and pasta...

Not enough vape shops to be a mall in 2026

This video made me realize how Nintendo had abandoned Miis, which is really sad to see.

The mall where I live actually thrived somewhat during and after covid and to this day I'm surprised at the amount of foot traffic it has. The primary way I think it did this was by investing in a lot of niche stores, nerd culture, and third space esque places. There's now an arcade specializing in rhythm games and claw machines, an indie Lego store, a movie theatre, an 80/90s retro store, an escape room, a full library branch, and just a ton of Japanese and anime import stores, along with a bunch of spots with comfy chairs and charging ports. There are still a lot of clothing stores too, but filling the mall with stores that just aren't common elsewhere in town I think was a big part of its survival.

Counterargument: Coconut Mall can afford to shut down/semi close for a day to serve as a karting course for the Lakitu company's Mariokart tv. This company is popular enough to involve the biggest celebrities in the Mario world including actual royalty.

Imagine how much they rake in with the adspace alone, considering how many eyes are on MKTV. There's also been a significant renovation to the decor and some architecture - suggesting maybe its appearence in Wii boosted its profile.

How do we save Coconut Mall? Petition Nintendo to BRING BACK THE MIIS!!!!

Nintendo has been neglecting and erasing the Miis from their identity and look what it's done to this once thriving space! 😔

Great Video btw.

8:22 anyone living directly under coconut mall is really going to regret that. wake up every morning to, not only a crowd of people above your home, (since this redesign is sure to repopulate the mall), but also the routine 3-lap races. but i suppose if it's that or homelessness, they'd better take what they can get. and if they can afford anything from the coconut cafe, it's only 2 floors away from their bedroom.

i got a couple ideas: if the fire department ever ever examines the mall, they'll be disapointed by the lack of emergency exits as well as the over-reliance on escalators and elevators. for that reason, i propose adding some more stairs and emergency exits, as well as a couple ramps to keep in line with coconut mall's initial vision for a wheelchair accessible mall.

@galaxytaba4640 8 months ago

I checked in mario kart 7...
I found... a few cars in the lot and not a single sign of life in there...

As a wheelchair user I think the ramp is a better choice rather than the elevator. What if there is a fire? Or the elevator is out? I'd rather a ramp than an elevator anyday. It may take up more space but it's definitely much safer.

@BeanFaceTM 7 months ago

I think the ramp is actually super duper valuable, cuz if ur a wheelchair user you font want your one option to be reliant on the mall being powered, or there not being sn emergency, or even just you might be sfraid of elevators, and since the ramp is so big even people on foot can take it too, plus ramps are more convenient than elevators since theres no need to wait for it

Well no shit that the traditional mall side of the business isn’t doing too well, that’s why they saw the writing on the wall, repositioned, and turned it into a full time raceway for the biggest sporting league in the entire mushroom kingdom. They’re not a dying business, they’re an intelligent pivot in hard times, they be getting them hefty hosting and sponsership fees

Coconut Mall is so popular the princess wanted to use it for her ridiculously high production national racing. If you don't seal entrances or put expensive products away they could be damaged. The people left are there to advertise. My hope is, they can use the money from the race buy-out for these great renovations you came up with to make it even better.

If coconut mail makes it to the Mario Kart World DLC (if it happens at all), then I really hope that Nintendo remodels it like you did. This change would definitely fit to the exploration that free roam has in that game.
