We need more young guys buying, building and driving these classics.

Back in the late '70s I had a beautiful 72 MGBGT. Absolutely loved that car. Unfortunately had a drunk side swipe me push me up over a curb and slam into a steel pole. Myself and my passenger were a little banged up but the car was totaled. A week earlier I had just put a brand new paint job on it that butterscotch color. It was spotless at the time of the accident. Thank God for State Farm. Cuz it was a hit skip they never caught the other driver.

The mgb gt is one of the prettiest silhouettes of all time not so much the roadster but the gt 👌

Great showing! I’m partial to the GT…

I have the '58 Magnette ZB and my brother has the Midget. We will face them off soon for a fun day. The Magnette is an 1800 now.

Haha. I just found your channel by watching your Beetle vid from two years ago. Mentioned I'm an MG guy. I subscribed and lo and behold! Awesome! Wish you well and again thanks for sharing. These are really great cars. I had a '74 B, then a '70, now a '64 and a '77. All roadsters. The '64 is my winter car believe it or not and I live in Detroit, MI with our bitter cold, snow and salt. The '77 never sees wet or cold, but between the two, they're the only cars I own and deliver me to work five days a week and everywhere else on weekends.

Back in the late 1970s, I owned a Midget 1275 MKIII and a 1969 MGB Roadster. Looks-wise the MGB has it but driving the Midget was an absolute hoot!! Now 40 years later, I have a 1973 MGB GT, love it, but not as good as the Midget to drive!

I had a '72 GT about 12 years ago. I just bought a '73 Midget about 2 weeks back!!! Enjoyed your conversation - and particularly liked the American railroad noises off camera.

That said, I have a good portion of the stuffing out of my Midget seats, lowering your eyeline below the window frame. I'm not quite 6' tall. Swapped out the exhaust manifold, heat-wrapped it, removed the resonator and anything short of the muffler, swapped out a single 32/36 DGEV carb which helps the 1500 motor breathe, debumpered it, swapped out the steering wheel for a smaller one, added a sway-bar to the front, all of which significantly improved performance of my Midget.

In one of my Bugeyes, added a sway bar, straight pipes, weber carb, and a ford T9 (really helps), those, along with some other modifications are drawing the most performance out of the 948, and keeps the car stuck to the curves nicely, and yet allowing it to reach highway speeds comfortably. The other ones will have a "fast" 1098, a cammed 1275 and probably a bone stock 948 one day, when I can get off my ass and restore them (I literally just have to pick an engine from storage, rebuild it, pick a transmission, and finish bolting the parts on one of the bugeyes and then I'll have two on the road).

The latest in the MG Car Club around here is to put an aluminum block 215 Buick v8 in it, or a stroker-kit and bored out to bring it to a 327, etc etc etc, those wind up being insane.

Just Fun little cool car,s to drive..love them..

Yes I owned both these cars, my first car the midget a great fun car, and then the mgb gt which was a friday made car with lots of problems. Now I am in  the jaguar family all those years later.

I put the Miata 5 speed in my '74 MGB and it makes all the difference in the world. Highway cruising is now so much more comfortable. The gear shift comes out in the same spot as the original so no modification there but the stick is quite tall so I lobbed of about an inch and it feels just right.

Shout out to J&L Foreign Auto Centre in Detroit, MI. Excellent resource. They've serviced my MGs for years. Once sorted, these are wonderfully reliable but they do demand the service specified in the manual. They are, afterall, a true British sportscar. Owners take the good with the greatest! Lol😅

G'day from Australia. Great programme, I've got a lovely 67 GT with a period Tudor Webasto sliding sunroof which makes all the difference. It is painted in a GT only colour called Sandy Beige (not found on the roadster). I bought this car in 1984 and sold it in 1988. 36 years later I found it by chance 4 sale and bought it back last April – how about that! It's still in great condition, the four owners who had it after me all looked after it.

Good stuff! Great to see you enjoying your cars. Neither powerful but both very good fun to drive

GT owner from UK,  thumbs up.

I’m lucky enough to own both of these cars. A 73 RWA Midget and a 74 BGT.  Both of which I have owned since the late 80’s early 90’s. Great to see you enjoying owning and using both of them. Loving the roof rack and retro skis. I used to own and ski on a set of skis similar to those back in the day. Both are great little cars and very different to drive. Our roads over here in the UK are great for driving MGs particularly here in Shropshire, mostly narrow and twisty. Keep up the good work guys.

PS - I have Abarth exhausts on both. They sound great!

These are awesome classics! How on earth do you get it to backfire like that? Sounds like a load of fun.

You may not get where you are going as fast in a  British or Italian sports car but the ride is 💯 per centmote exciting!!!!! Also you may not get there at all!! You have to understand that these cars require a little more maintenance than American or Japanese cars. I'm on the lookout for one of each of these and looking forward to owning one again !!!

I preferr the mg

As a short fella tho I think the midget looks so fun and the styling is really nice too
