Me watching this after buying one. 😂

Yes watch out for hard starts when warm, the rear struts tend to wear much faster than fronts. Look for catalytic converters that are potentially getting clogged ie very red hot. Stick with the 6 speed manual versions they are far better. Also the leather interiors are now fading and cracking so the cloth interior is better in my opinion. Look up Kanatechs kit to upgrade your stereo also. And only EVER use mineral oil for Rotaries do NOT use synthetic oil.

5 things to add

1. All RX8 have an omp (oil metering pump) an oil injection system to keep the Apex seal lubed. The 09+ have 3 injection sites, the 2 that sit near where the outer edges of where the corner or the rotors pass and then 1 in the middel (09+ only)

2. 09+ have a better starter, it spins harder and provides a better start.

3. GET RID OF THE CAT, they clog and cause heat issues leading to a lengthy list of problems, for instance, overheating which in turn ruins these motors. (Warps the rotor housings).

4. I would suggest either the mishimoto thermostat or a fan relay switch kit to have the cooling system kick on earlier than what the car is set to.

5. If you have the cat out and you plan on keeping the car. Run a good quality premix. (Some will bash this) in all S1 variants pre 09, they lack the central oil injection port. Pre mix can be that added insurance and will guarantee a uniform lubrication. Its best paired with no cat as it can cause cloggin of the cat.

Bonus.
Rev the snot out of them only when warm at least 1 time per drive. Or bring to redline a couple times while warm when out and about. They need to be cleared out everyday.

I run an obd2 wireless scanner with torque pro app for monitoring my coolant temps. If the car is leaking coolant before you buy, easy answer DONT buy. Unless you're willing to get into some serious work. And dont be persuaded.

"H crack" in the dash.  Broken centre console.  Redline on your test drive to make sure the SSV and Auxiliary Valve are working properly.

Mate, best channel I’ve ever come across. Happy you do the older cars. I’ve just discovered you but no1. Watcher now..

The accent makes it so much better 😂😂

Great little buyers guide as always mate.

Love your buying guide videos!! Thank you

Quick comment, all rx8s inject oil with the fuel through the oil metering pump, but the 09+ models have three injection areas rather than two. What you mentioned in the video isn't fully corr6

They're also revised to run higher oil pressures from factory.

Great video!

I love the shape of this car and have considered buying one for a second fun drive for weekends but always been put off by the rotary engine horror stories, great vid though ++

Very helpful guided me into buying my rx8 which has been great so far

Great that you kept all your mistakes in the video, it feels more authentic. 😊

Great video man, mind that engine cover 😂

Corrosion, not much to check??? It's a Mazda! MX5, RX8 all suffer from rotting sills and general corrosion underneath. I'm surprised these cars in Scotland haven't dissolved!

I like your American accent 😊

the first model of rx8 has omp as well, on the fl the just added an 3rd injectort for the oil

One of the most underrated cars!! Super car chassis without the power!! Still fun though !

Ayo man, i really like your accent

What is the difference between the standard and an evolve its a 06 I'm looking at. Thanks

Years ago I was thinking of buying one of these but tax on these so expensive plus the amount of things that can go wrong with this car really puts me off getting one.
