I was so shocked hearing Jonathan Groff’s version for the first time, I’d never heard him sing with that rasp it sounds beautiful

The fact that you got so much footage from so many different shows/years/performances is wild!! That’s awesome. Growing up in the 80s and with the movie, even if he’s not a classic Broadway singer, it’s hard for me not to pick Rick Moranis as my favorite.

For me, this is a close top three (1) Jeremy (2) J Groff (3) Andrew but I give an honorable mention to Milo’s creativity

Rick Moranis and Jonathan Groff.

1. i love when the girlies sing along
2. the 2019 puppet is insane

There's no question that Jeremy will always be my number 1 pick in pretty much anything. However, I can't get over the sheer beauty of Damien Humbley's voice! What an instrument he has! Josh Lamon, another performer with whom I'm not familiar, also really blew me away!

It’s not a competition: everyone sang it best for their specific production!

Evan Alexander Smith, Damien Humbley, Milo Manheim, Andrew Barth Feldman all have amazing and unique, jazzy riffs and they also get Seymour's character SPOT ON.

Lee Wilkof, Hunter Foster, Damien Humbley and Jeremy Jordan were my favorites

Let's be real now...Jeremy Jordan tops the list for making it sound and even LOOK absurdly easy to sing that, including his options UP 😮

It’s not even a question Milos voice is soooo crisp

Still devasted we never got any clip of Milo's version :( he sounds amazing in it

For me it's gotta be Lee Wilkof. I feel in general it's so hard to beat the original LSOH cast.

I saw Rob McClure off-Broadway and loved it. It felt so emotional. ❤

0:36 i dont like the excessive amount of staccatos

The UK Tour version of Audrey 2 reminds me of that moment in the 1951 Alice In Wonderland when The March Hare hits The Mad Hatter on the head with a mallet then the top pops off & when The Hatter’s hollow voice is heard, the top of his hat moves along with it like the Audrey 2 puppets lip synching with the productions voice for Audrey 2

Jonathan’s rasp gagged me so bad it has to be him

Me personally..
1. Jeremy
Jeremy just performs so well all the time, he’s definitely the most clear favorite here because his vocal control is insane.

2. Jonathan, he really brought the growl to the role which I love, it’s definitely so Seymour coded to his start sort of rasping his notes (drama king)

3. Rob
Call me biased or whatever cause I loved Rob as Adam in Beetlejuice and he does really well with awkward introverts in plaid.
He definitely had more of a Seymour vibe to his song, super indecisive but also in a cute quirky awkward way

Having only ever heard Moranis’ before, I’m very glad that it does actually hold up as one of the best. I think all of them are clearly very skilled but so many of them are just doing WAY too much for my taste. It’s interesting listening to them all and starting to pick up on the little details that are consistent across my faves and least faves. The delivery of ‘mutilations’ seems a surprisingly good indicator of my thoughts on a given solo.

All that said, it’s Lee Wilkof without a doubt. He’s got the perfect tone, there’s a kind of growl to it that none of the others have. His voice just fits the music none of the others quite do, with said music also being exceptionally to my taste compared to some of the other interpretations.

All really fantastic, but Wilkof is the standout without a shadow of a doubt. And thank you for taking the time to compile these, what a wonderful way to be able to spend my time listening to and thinking about.
