And yet they both immediately die if they touch a funny walking mushroom or a beetle with a wheel on it.

Kind of ironic when one franchise has a human hero with a animal villain, and the other has an animal hero with a human villain. Anyone else notice that detail?

So if Mario makes a bunch of copies of himself, does that mean Sonic got attacked by... an Italian mob?

This better get a rematch.

Is no one gonna talk about how both this fight and Thanos vs Darkseid were started because of a chair.

Bowser and Eggman: Having an all out war over the land
Mario and Sonic: Fighting over a chair

2011 mario: dies by spindash
2018 mario: avoids it with hands
Me: he has been studying

I don’t like how they didn’t include basically half of Sonic’s power ups and him surviving planet level attacks in game. It’s weird

15:39 In Italy you don't put on overalls, you are born with them.

Can we just talk about how Mario RIPPED HIS OWN SKIN OFF AND HAD HIS OVERALLS UNDERNEATH?!

Mario: "Hello? That's-a mine!"
Sonic: "Oh really? My mistake I didn't see you there, I'll get up immediately."
Battle over

Just wanted to chime in since this episode is currently the talk of the town. I said this before on Twitter but I think the main issue with this episode is how mean spirited toward Sonic it is. Compare it to Bowser vs Eggman. Eggman loses but the episode is a HUGE tribute to both the Mario and Sonic series and gives both characters a ton of love and respect. Compare that to how Sonic is portrayed in this fight. He gets kicked in the nuts, flails his arms around like an idiot, Hyper Sonic is absolutely useless, and in the end Mario dances with Sonic’s severed leg. I think the thing is that this episode came out in the 2010s where Sonic was a total punching bag. At the time this video came out the most recent Sonic game was Forces. It was bogged down too heavily by the 2010s irony humor where you just had to say “Sonic bad” and people would laugh. I don’t know if this match up specifically needs a revisiting but I’d like to see Sonic himself come back at some point. I think he needs an episode that isn’t marred by “haha Sonic lore is so cringe. Here’s a Sanic meme!” humor. Also I’m not a power scaler I purely watch this show for fun so please don’t attack me 🤣

i just love how every single death battle has people killing each other over the smallest issues ever

when the two smartest kids in class get different answers

I like how Mario tore off his swimming clothes to reveal his plumber outfit underneath

ANOTHER REMATCH,ANOTHER REMATCH,GIVE ME ANOTHER REMATCH

Moon: Gets destroyed from the force of Mario and Sonic’s punch counter

Me: Welp, there goes all of Mario Odyssey

Alternative ending:Sonic brings his own chair so they dont fight to death. The end.

Props to the animator here. All that was beautiful.

They need a 2026 edition.
