The fact that Alex Hirsch himself said that any fanmade work of gravity falls is canon since it takes place in the gravity falls universe means that technically, Bill Cipher has canonically met Discord.

Despite losing, Discord is the only combatant to screw over the winner’s victory. Mad respect to Discord.

I realize he sacrificed himself to banish Bill from Equestria, mirroring what Stan did in the show. Great job guys.

I never realized till now but
Discord calling Bill his equal should've been a dead give away that his actual goal was to distract Cipher so he could secretly seal him away to save the others, because his ego normally doesn't let him admit that to anyone other than his friends.

Fun Fact: If you play this battle’s song “Discordant Decipher” in reverse, there’s a reversed message that says. “Why are you listening to this part backwards? Don’t tell me you’re some kind of tinfoiler. You do know the song doesn’t decide who wins, right?”

My favorite thing I haven’t seen anyone mention yet is that in the portal to Equestria, you can see a letter on the ground, meaning that the letter he wrote at the beginning of the fight was a farewell note to Fluttershy and the others, he always knew that he might not be able to stick around to say goodbye so he did it the only way he could

Okay, but Discord sacrificing himself to save everyone is 100% in-character.

I love it.

Didint the creator say all bill cameos are cannon?
So technically this fight happened.

I really love the double meaning in Discord "I've seen your show, and I know how you die." It makes everyone think he's talking about him being destroyed inside a mind... yet the truer meaning is about someone sacrificing himself for those he loves - something the selfish Bill, despite all his foreknowledge, would never expect or see coming.

So Boomstick went from stereotypically hating MLP to warming up to it via his daughter?
That's some of the most wholesome character development I've seen :)

I'm not an MLP fan, but hearing Fluttershy sadly calling "Discord?" broke my heart. Fiction is wild

I believe that this was still a Discord win, though he technically lost, since he saved Equestria and got the last laugh. Coldest exit I've ever seen on Death Battle.

I gotta say, this is probably the only death battles where "Running the data through ALL possibilities" would actually be impossible.

If you pay attention, after Bill and Discord leave the puppet bubble, the weirdness bubbles are all gone.  This is a subtle hint that Discord transported Bill out of Equestria

Someone at Disney even said there were a couple months that anyone visiting the studio could have seen a whiteboard that said “how to kill god” when they were trying to figure out how to kill bill. They made him so powerful that even the writers were stumped on how to kill him

Bill saying "I'm and all-seeing GOD" really rings hollow when he was so tunnel visoned on fighting Discord that he didn't even realise he got baited back to the Nightmare Realm so easily.

Can we all agree that Discord played his trap card perfectly for his heroic death from Bill?

I like the spoiler hidden at the start; Discord starts the fight writing a letter to Celestia saying Bill would learn an important lesson about Friendship. In the end, he sacrifices himself to dump Bill back in the Nightmare Realm to protect his friends, the letter he wrote to them can be seen on the other side of the portal before it shuts.

Discord was never going to win, so he prepared in advance and used Bill's tunnel vision against him to win the war instead of the battle, saving his friends even though he couldn't win. He did indeed teach Bill a lesson.

For people wondering what Bill Cypher said at the end, he said “Reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, bye!”

15:10 from that point onward fight is in the nightmare realm, they dont leave the madness bubble they come out of a portal after discord snapped his fingers and the madness bubbles are no longer in the backround
