This program, presented for the first time in approximately 60 years by the professional dancers, the Nagasaki Kenban, is filled with the thoughts of the townspeople.
Maruyama Town will be presenting the Nagauta piece "Tojin Kyo Shukukiyo Festival."
The dance is an adaptation of "Ukare Tojin," a traditional dance passed down by the Nagasaki Kenban.
The dance depicts a Tojin known as "Achasan" flirting with geisha in Maruyama, a former red-light district.
*In "Nagasaki Kunchi: Tradition and Passion Connecting the Revival," we will introduce this year's dance town at Nagasaki Kunchi, which is being held for the first time in four years, in a series.
