I moved to McKinney 4 years ago and lived in the Stonebridge area because it still has opened spaces. Now, every piece of what used to be vacant land has new development; 121 is a concrete jungle, too. It's suffocating. When my last child graduate from high school, the plan is to leave. Property tax is ridiculous too ... assessed so much more than market value, even after appealing it.

Changing McKinney was mentioned over and over.

Unique By Nature was the city's slogan for 25+ years. It highlighted the natural beauty of the city and surrounding areas that residents enjoyed before the year 2000.
That focus is being wiped out with all of this.

So, yes, McKinney is changing.

I’m a city girl so I love it. I think property values will skyrocket for all of Collin county. Princeton, Anna,Melissa, and Van Alstyne will benefit from this as well, and prices are more affordable now.

I moved here 22 years ago when McKinney had beautiful green fields everywhere. Not one grass field left and the constant building everywhere. The traffic is getting worse everyday, I can't wait to move out of here.

For the love of god please build schools in the north east part. There are like 8k+ homes going in up by longneck and new hope and the schools are like a 20 minute drive minimum without a single bus stop.

The commercial airport that the people voted not to fund that the former mayor and current council has decided to move forward with anyway. The people voted with their money and told them they don't want it. Corrupt and self-serving local government.

Fourth commercial airport. Well, they can land any sized jet at Alliance.

I hate it. I live here and the beautiful landscape, trees and trails are being bulldozed and I think it’s a terrible thing. But whatever, that’s how it is, I would love to move out further but I know it’ll just spread no matter what we do.

I lived in McKinney in the early 70s, and again in the late 80s. I can remember when there was a Woolworth on the square. I love Mckinney, but I think sometime in the future it's going to take off and leave people my age. Both my children were born in McKinney hospital on university drive. I have lots of good memories of McKinney the very young age of 16. I actually got married on chestnut square at one of the houses my mother-in-law and father-in-law lived in. I will always remember the old days of McKinney, no matter how much it changes!

I just moved here a few months ago from austin metroplex. I love it here. I hope all this growth leads to more opportunities since I work in construction and have run my own business previously. I’m worries it just means I get priced out of renting here and never make enough to buy a house. I’ve seen it happen all over Austin in the past few years

There's too many traffic lights everywhere on the main east west routes through McKinney. More roundabouts (see Wilmeth east of 75) and better traffic light coordination is required.
