I actually feel sorry for Neil. Underneath that hard exterior is a man who really is trying and I think his bitterness comes from anger at himself.

I hope he’s doing well now and is happy. We all deserve that.

He’s a broken man and dead on his feet.
I can already tell that the owners aren’t easy to work for. They are some of “them type” of people

I lived 15 yrs in a small Spanish village,to say they dont want Spanish food is ridiculous. Most villagers in Spain want traditional Spanish food. Period

I knew someone a lot like Neil years ago. He'd had a crap childhood and hardly ever heard anything encouraging from his parents so even at 18 he looked like someone who had given up on life. Thankfully he met a girl who made him realise that his life did have value and he was worth caring about and that is exactly what i think of when i see Neil here. Someone who probably worked in restaurants trying to find his purpose but becahse of how his parents may have raised him he took every criticism more severely than he might have done otherwise. This is clear even with how he interacts with people because all that negativity in your childhood can end up affecting the way you relate to people in adult life

One of the best restaurants I've eaten in, in Andalucia was a pop-up in Búbion run 4 nights a week by a complete amateur from Barcelona with just his daughter, in a tiny one-room with an oak fire off a small alleyway. He cooked just two mains, different each night, all with Spanish and Moroccan flavours, and when it was gone, he closed. Chicken, apricot and stick cinnamon casserole, or lamb and date tagine, with orange zest and pistachio couscous or safron and almond wild rice the night we were there. Both were fabulous.

The Head chef i really like, you can see he is trying his best at all times and is hyper focused i think once he relaxes and lets his confidence and passion shine his food will be even more incredible than it already is.
