Instability might be a skill issue, but instability + desync is a death sentence

Resistance isn't a maths issue, resistance is futile...

I use a Stampede module on the Arbor 2 to help minimize instability.

Great guide.  Thanks for making and sharing it with us.  Mining has been a big part of my industrial gameplay along with salvage and cargo hauling.  As I am a solo player I stayed away from soloing the Mole...found it a bit intimidating.  After watching this guide I think I will get myself a Mole and try it out.

My Mole runs a Helix 2 backed with a Focus 3 and 2x Surge modules.  A Hofstede 2 backed with a Rieger C3 and a Surge modules.  And the last turret is the Arbor 2 backed by 2x Focus 3.  I try to have 2x Sabir and 2x Waveshift gadgets, plus 4x Surge modules in my backpack.  With this, depending on material content I can break most rocks up to about 54K mass flying solo.

I have another Mole setup special for the Rock Breaker.  Running a Helix 2 with a Rieger C3 and 2x Focus 3.  Hofstede 2 with a Rieger C3 and a Focus 3.  And the Arbor 2 with 2x Focus 3

I run the helix2 with a rieger c3 a surge and a stampede on center then on left turret i have the hoffsted 2 with rieger c3 focus and xlt and on right turret its the ignite 2 and then 3 filters and i crack 32k rocks solo so i am good with my set up

My org uses a set up with 1 head for window, 1 head for power, 1 head for filtering inert materials, thats our standard loatout.

We have heads configured for bigger rocks on the cargo grid.

Currently working on a "training wheels" prospector  build for members who want to learn mining.

I've dabbled in mining, but until I finally find the blueprints I want, and I know that materials will persist across patches, that's when I'll be nose to grindstone.  Thanks for the info.

I like the Torrent on the Hofsteade istead of the C3 for faster breaks, since I usually tend to have too much rather than too Little power for secondary breaks

I've gone with the Lancet instead of Klien for my 3rd laser for the reduced slag plus full Filter modules for it. I use it for all the extracting

Helix in the front rather than on the side is a good shout given its 30 m range. If you are solo there is usually  the re-distancing to take the 2nd and 3 d breaks. Good to see you using a Focus - Iv'e found (apart from the inability to solo big rocks of highest quality) that instability has been a pain, Have been running a focus on the Hofsteded recently. Great video - nice thoughts thank you and very clear. Good also to recognise that it is worth considering what you are going out for now we are crafting or running Shubin contracts for Rep (crafted mining heads on offer at higher tiers in 4.8) and specifically build to that.

I'm just starting out with this; I just got the machine and I've read that I'm more interested in a Lancet MH2 for better control. Later, with more experience, I understand I'll switch to the KlineS2.
Great video, TY

After the hard wipe I would put 3 helix 2 lasers on a mole fully crewed and it won't be enough power for literally any large gold node.

apply for 4.10?

You say "On the Mole". I hear "On them all".

Where can I get the Chart you were showing at 1:53? That would be handy to have on hand.

Amazing guide, thank you so much. Does most of this still carry into 4.8 I heard there was some changes?

Um, your math on the Helix with three surges is wrong- the multiplier is well, multiplicative....
You can get 2.25 times the Helix power with 3 surges

Can you change Golem's mining head?

The updates they made to mining due to crafting has really screwed up the viability of solo mining in solo focused ships. The MOLE should not be the ship to recommend for solo mining and if it is then CIG has an issue with the mining loop.
