For the first time, we’re taking Visiting Barbershops by Surprise outside of Buenos Aires. 💈 This time we traveled to Santiago del Estero to see what barbershop life is like in another province of Argentina and to discover new stories within the trade.
Our first stop was to meet Ian, a barber who is only 10 years old. He started learning from videos, set up his own place to cut hair in the backyard of his house, and already has clients. But beyond the barbershop, we also learned a very special story: not long ago he had to go through a major surgery in Tucumán, and today he’s already recovering, studying, and getting back to doing what he’s passionate about.
After that, we toured Santiago del Estero and visited Estilo Caro, one of the most well-known barbershops in the area, to learn how they work, how much they charge, how they train new barbers, and the strategies they use to attract and retain clients.
This is the first of many Visiting Barbershops episodes traveling through Argentina’s provinces. 🇦🇷💈
