The head on collision trains was an event for entertainment, the 2 people killed were observing the crash and struck by flying debris

AmtrakGuy really be dynamic braking into the vtuber sphere

As a train enjoyer myself, it's great to see a reaction of that video

2:45, big wheel only equals big speed if da big wheel is the driving wheel, which on that locomotive was not, the was a flywheel

In regards to why the Reverend Wilbert Awdry came up with talking trains, he said in interviews that whenever he heard trains go by his home, to him the various sounds of a steam engine sort of sounded like they were talking. Like if you ever wonder why the characters often speak in repetitive remarks, its cuz they match the rythmic chugging of the engine.

IT FINALLY FUCKING HAPPENED

18:05 Yes. New York Penn was the Pennsylvania Railroad's terminal while Grand Central was New York Central's terminal. They are named after their original companies.

"Dont forget to order your gamersupps to have with your snack so you can stay hydrated and chugga chugga while you chew chew"

16:08 the reason why locomotive air-horns were made to sound more musical was because back then, single note air-horns sounded Identical to truck horns, which would often confuse other motorists and cause confusion at railroad crossings, resulting in a higher risk of accidents at crossings.

thomas the tank engine, its only a train when it has rolling stock like coaches or freight cars. if it doesn't have that its a locomotive

24:02 killed every railfan within a 10,000 mile radius

Union Pacific runs Bailey yard, the biggest rail yard on the planet in north platte Nebraska.

Union Pacific is about to takeover Norfolk Southern becoming the first tri-coast railroad and America's largest. Crazy that they were the first transcon (1869) with its predecessors (Central Pacific → Southern Pacific) to soon become the first Pacific - Gulf - Atlantic coast single carrier railroad network.

The PRR-NYC merger to create Penn Central never should have happened.  The two railroads operated on completely different systems that didn't mesh together at all... and within a mere 871 days, the PC had become the largest bankruptcy in American history, a rather unfortunate distinction it would hold for 31 years until a little company called Enron came along and took that title in 2001.  (It didn't help that the PC was forced to take on the bankrupt New Haven on New Year's Day 1969, which only made the financial issues that much worse.)  By June of 1970, they were losing over $500,000 A DAY!

2:19 - the large wheel is a flywheel.  The momentum that it builds up helps keep the engine running and smooths out the power between piston cycles.  You still find them on many piston powered engines like car motors.

This mom is cultured and I am glad I subbed.

What American trains really excel at is cargo for example we have cars where you can stack containers 2 high and we have trains of these that streach longer than 3 miles with multiple engines.

It on average takes 7 European trains to move the equivalent of 1 US cargo train.

US also has the largest rail network in the world.

17:40 hey i made a cameo

As a train fan I really enjoy how train content can get to everyone

yooo railfanning vtubing space is growing!
