"War is peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength." is LITERALLY "Orwellian", since, it is a direct quote from "1984".

"That's a bit Orwellian"
sees Orwells most famous quote on the next poster
"what does that even mean?"

For anyone concerned about raiders having equipment with minuteman insignia;

they simply recovered it from a recently slain minuteman patrol or w/e.

"War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength"
It's a quote from 1984 by George Orwell, and they're the principles upon which the three great superpowers keep their populations in check. Internal peace by being in a constant state of war with one of the other two powers, the idea that the freedom of oneself is a great burden so the government will graciously tell you what you should do, and that the ignorance of the population keeps it united and cohesive.

Might be lore-friendly for a playthrough where you rebuild the minutemen as the institute director, setting up a new Commonwealth Provisional Government.
