Join us for our first time watching Alien, starring Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, as we experience the beginning of one of the most iconic sci-fi horror franchises ever made. We’ve heard for years how terrifying the Xenomorph is, but we were NOT prepared for some of the moments in this movie.

I remember the hype when this came out in 1979. This was before the internet and social media. The only way you got to see the Alien was by going to the cinema and watching the actual movie, rather than just googling it. So you got to see the movie in the way the Director intended you to see it. The slow build and the writing are epic. Great reaction 👍

The trailer shown on TV back then was scary, I'm glad I was able to see it on cable years later, thanks again

"Alien" was heavily inspired by "It! The Terror From Beyond Space" (1958)
Trivia: Veronica Cartwright, Lambert, is the older sister to Angela Cartwright who starred in "Lost in Space" (1965-1968)

"Because payday's tomorrow and we need something to eat for dinner." That was funny!

Simple Jack, if she asks something that you know could spoil anything, just answer “You muh muh… Make me happy!” 😉

13:06 watch the prequel Prometheus to have some questions answered. But before that, Aliens is a must!

Alien is supposed to take place about 100 years from now. Its kinda funny to see what they thought the early 22nd Century would look like in the late 1970's.

Its one of the best films ever made. It is so culturally significant, it was inducted into the Congressional Library for permeant preservation.

Astronauts are generally trained to be professional in these emergency situations. I guess these Space Truckers still gotta get some basic astronaut training.

In 1979 I was 10 I research this movie whole year and a half because I live on the Navajo reservation where there no theaters or book stores. I had to find out through my cousin and a friend and magazines at gas station stores. Until October 1980 I finally saw it on The Movie Channel, a premium pay cable tv network (like HBO)

You had cats? Back in my day, we wore cats as mittens as we walked twelve miles to school, uphill both ways, with broken glass and scorpions for shoes. 🥰

No, there were no digital effects added to home video or streaming versions of this movie. What you see is essentially what audiences saw in 1979. All of these effects are practical, organic and physical.

Actually.. when the chest-burster was 'born' .. stabbing it would have been catastrophic, Ash was actually correct in telling them not to touch it, that would have caused a hull breach.

1:01:29 in the original script, the Alien wins. It gets back on the shuttle and tears Ripley apart. In the final scene, the Alien sits down and you hear it send a distress message in Captain Dallas’s voice.

Well thanks to some 20th Century Fox executives the final sequence was changed. Remember two years prior to Alien this same studio put out Star Wars. So they saw this had the makings of another great sci-fi franchise.

Now here we are almost 50 years later still talking about this movie.
