I never expected the Collatz Conjecture to get DLC

i lost it when he started calling some of the universes "dumbasses"

"ill call them runaway universes to keep things kid friendly"
never calls them runaway universes

for those curious, in every universe except 0x+0 (including the Collatz one), 0 is essentially an impenetrable island unto itself, where it points back to itself and nothing can enter or leave

Ah yes, my favourite mathematical thing. Generalizing the living daylight out of anything and everything, even when I probably shouldn't.

12:55 “pseudo-exponential dumbassery” 🔥🔥

Mathematicians when the problem is unsolvable: Welcome to the multiverse!

5:48 THE POWER OF TWO 🗣🗣🗣🗣

12:45 this might just be one of the funniest things I've ever heard 🙏😭

"we call this dumbass universes, but to keep this video kid-friendly we will call them runaway universes."
-proceeds to call them dumbass universes for the rest of the video 😂

Im about to be so learned

cary is just fancy graph veritasium

14:10 258: Now its MY TURN!!!

Cary: No we’re not doing that

Cary, my science teacher used your size of the universe website in astronomy. I WANTED TO SAY I KNEW WHO MADE IT SO BAD!!!

"But first we need to talk about parallel universes"
Oh wait he made that joke

once i did some specific set of rules:
if divisible by 2, divide by 2
if divisible by 3, divide by 3
if divisible by 5, divide by 5
otherwise x = 7*x+1

a funny thing is that it converged to 1 for the first 1 million numbers i've checked, but if i added 1 more prime into the mix (if divisible by 7 and 11x+1), then it lost its properties and very quickly started getting several loops

5:05 "That name sounds familiar" got me dying.

if we're talking about actual dumbasses, which one implies the person is dumber? "linear dumbassery" or "exponential dumbassery"?
"exponential" sounds like they're so catastrophically dumb it's exponential, but "linear" also sounds like their thought processes are very linear

I love using the Collatz formula for negatives.
