You are the only YouTuber that breaks down everything, to help us understand!
When I understand, I can do so much more than simply trying to imitate someone else.

You've done quite a few videos on drops, now, but this by far the best explained and demonstrated one, nice one, Dusty!

I've been trying to figure this out for ages and finally recognized this technique when I saw a rider doing it the other day. Now you have explained it perfectly. As usual.

Similar to skateboarding... you don't need to ollie to ride off an obstacle. You just need the right speed and take your weight off the front wheels. 👍

I just want to say that I stumbled upon this video by chance....it got my attention and as much as I hate to admit, I've been struggling with this a long time ....I'm a big guy and your breakdown helped me so much...I've put this to test this past weekend and I'm way more confident on my drops. thanks much man.

Dude, I am so happy you created this video. I keep telling everyone I know: STOP doing this silly lift or pre-hop off the lip. You gonna hurt yourself.
Keep doing what you are doing! (BTW: your video edits gets better and better)

Yea I'm glad to hear that, the number one thing that improved my riding was to stop trying to bunny hop off everything, there is a time and place to "pop" but almost never when you are trying to ride fast and smooth. I come from a dirt bike background and once I went back to preloading the suspension the way I'm used too I have much more confidence handling drops and jumps and just keeping my feet from slipping off the pedals.

This is the best tutorial I've watched covering how to properly go off a drop. AND the only one injecting confidence and getting me excited to finally hit up my community bike park and give it a try... on the baby drop, of course 😂. I especially found the colorful linear markups very helpful in driving home your point; they aided in visualizing my body position on my bike as you provided the steps. Thank you so much for the thorough explanation.

That last drop was killer! Great work man. Pro 👌

BMX taught me to just lean back really far as I would for a proper controlled long manual where the front tire is only like a foot off the ground but its controlled. This makes it really easy to ride off a ledge at close to level tires incase you want to nose dip into a transition for smoothness, you just simply go back to normal riding position while in the air and even dip the front a bit to nose into the ramp. The other option which more applies to BMX was landing more rear tire slightly first but not too heavy because that'll explode your rear wheel, if your doing a ledge or stairset to flat, which doesnt really seem to ever be a thing in MTB, least I havent encountered it on purpose, only overshooting jumps sometimes which isnt really ideal if its on trails, too many things you can accidentally run into like trees. I'm finding it pretty wild how so much of what I learned on BMX at skateparks and on street is transfering over to the trails now that I'm old and washed up and often too sore to ride BMX everyday so I started riding MTB a couple years ago. RIDE ALL TEH BIKES!!!!!

This was fantastic. I have always dropped this way naturally. I think it came from dropping off curbs on BMX bikes. My son is now starting to ride MTB and this is the perfect video to teach him to do it. Thanks a ton. I'm subscribing!

Came across this video and it is the best I have watched from all the drop videos I have seen. Really breaks things down, step-by-step, and slows the video down to show what proper form and body position look like. I am now subscribed and looking into his other videos to glean some insights on other techniques. Fantastic videos, mate!

I’ve recently found your videos and decided to give them a watch. Your explanation of jumping technique using the J Hop method made the most logical sense. I’ve been trying to jump consistently for a long time but never felt comfortable. Now I still don’t feel comfortable but it’s slightly more repeatable with the J Hop. Thank you!

My youngest has gotten me back into trail riding and this has helped him a lot.

I've watched a few other tutorials on drops, and, this is most likely the best I've seen. Tips with actual theory and explanations to behind it. Thanks!

Your videos help me jump all intermediate jumps effortlessly now! Thank youuu. For me the right speed and that push/ body position helps me a lot.

Thanks for speaking English in a concise understandable way to teach this method. Can’t understand the Aussie/Brit/Irish every vid on here! You make sense. Thank you.

Great job showing how it’s done. One of the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen. I love how much time you spent on the wrong form. That was super helpful. It was exactly how I was taught and I couldn’t get the drops right.
