This was a close win with the bus. Indeed with the frequent mechanical issues of the new EMR trains it could have easily ended it in Leicester.

Indeed it is a nice touch that U15s can use the buses for free within the county. Makes up for nice days out

The train is much faster.10 minutes faster than the bus

Enjoy your comparison videos, although speed isn't the only criterion really as others have commented. If I were making the journey and time wasn't a constraint, I'd take the bus every time. There have definitely been more kids on the buses over the past few weeks which can only be a good thing; and all very well behaved (which is more than I can say for some of the adults)!!! (Still) not travelled on an Aurora as of yet and quite surprised/concerned about their reliability problems

Good video. I think races comparing different forms of transport should score on multiple things not just time.
Time is important though.
Id score on time, cost, hassle, view or general comfort. Maybe add in frequency and extent of the services
Locally a similar thing would be myself doing a Tunbridge Wells to Maidstone race between bus and train.

Bus via the nearest bus stop
Door to door. Walk to nearest bus stop 10 minutes. Catch a bus which takes 1hour 13 minutes right into the heart of Maidstone. Cost £3 each way. Comfort. OK. Buses can be a little bumpy and the seats are usually OK for just over a hour. Frequency one bus a hour. Bus coming back is woefully early in the day

Bus route 2. Start from a central stop.
30 minute walk to the bus stop. Bus takes 1 hour 14. Comfort , cost etc the same but this route has 2 buses a hour and coverage extends to about 10pm

Train.
10 minute walk to the station.
Train journey takes 1 hour 1 minute.
2 changes which adds a little hassle factor
Cost for a return about £12
Then about a 10 minute walk from the station to the town centre.

2 trains a hour covering til about 11 pm

Despite the price difference I've plumped for train over bus several times recently.
1 I have a railcard so get a 3rd off prices
2 for me it's slightly less walking though changing trains twice is annoying
3 the train is more comfortable and in the hot weather recently far more bearable to travel
4 I think the views from the train are slightly better than on bus
