Dracula – Part 1 Animated Audiobook | read slowly for sleep (Transylvania, 1890s)
☾ Ad-free readings & members-only series → Patreon: SleepBound
It's early May, and Jonathan Harker is heading east by train from Munich, jotting notes in his journal as he goes. Tonight's reading comes with an animated film: drawn pictures that move along with the story. He crosses the Danube at Buda-Pesth, eats paprika chicken in Klausenburg, and stops at the Golden Krone in Bistritz. There the landlady hangs a small crucifix round his neck before he leaves. Then it's a long coach ride up into the Carpathians, past plum orchards, roadside shrines and peasants in full white sleeves and big belts, with the Borgo Pass waiting at dusk.
A soft spoken reading for sleep, with pictures to watch until your eyes get heavy.

🌒 ABOUT THIS BOOK
─────────────────────────
Dracula is told through letters, diaries and newspaper cuttings. It opens with Jonathan Harker, a young English solicitor, travelling to Transylvania to help a Count buy a house in London. From there the story moves between a castle in the mountains, the seaside at Whitby and the streets of London, following Jonathan, his fiancée Mina and their friends. Because it's written as journals, it reads like someone telling you about their day: train times, meals, weather, the view from the window. That steady diary voice is easy to fall asleep to.
A gentle Victorian adventure about a young man writing home from very far away.
