Another massive weekend reselling haul for The Dumont Boys! This weekend we spent $608 hitting estate sales, garage sales, thrift stores, and local sales looking for items to flip on eBay. By the end of the weekend, our $608 investment turned into an estimated $4,256 in resale value!
But one of our potentially best finds was sitting RIGHT IN FRONT OF US... and we completely missed it.
We arrived early at an estate sale specifically looking for a high-end vintage Sony reel-to-reel tape recorder that we'd seen advertised before the sale. When we got inside, the original box was empty and the Sony was nowhere to be found—or so we thought.
After asking about it and getting a confusing explanation that another buyer had already "ordered it," we assumed we'd missed our chance. It wasn't until later that we went back through our footage and discovered something pretty embarrassing:
The Sony reel-to-reel was sitting on a table right in front of us when we walked into the sale. We walked straight past it!
Sometimes estate sale hunting and eBay reselling doesn't go exactly according to plan.
Fortunately, that wasn't the only opportunity this weekend. We hit multiple estate sales and garage sales searching for undervalued items that we can buy low and resell for profit. As always, we're looking for vintage electronics, collectibles, cameras, toys, clothing, household items, unusual finds, and anything else that has strong eBay resale value.
By the end of our weekend sourcing trip:

We show what we paid for our finds, look at eBay sold comps, estimate potential resale value, and explain why we decided to buy—or pass—on different items. Not every purchase is a winner, and estimated resale value isn't the same as profit. Everything still has to be tested, cleaned, photographed, listed, sold, packed, and shipped, with eBay fees, shipping costs, returns, and other expenses taken into account.
