Update: It’s been announced the day her single dropped, that she’s releasing another EP August 1st😭😭 I don’t think the debut album is coming in 2025…

Watching in 2026 and there’s still no album 😅

tbf , i don’t think anyone really cares for a full length album from saweetie. she’s got a few cute bops but i doubt she has a solid fanbase who are hungrily awaiting an album idk yall😭

Saweetie always felt more of an influencer than an artist (to me). The influencer route is her main avenue right now.

Some celebs just like to enjoy being famous rather than making art.

The concept of a comeback but never having an official debut

She’s more of an IT girl, super pretty and trendy and very cool. She should put her degree to use.

I just truly think her lane was the educated icy girl, there were already so many nicki-type rappers on the come up. Never understood the branding switch

Yall im here from the future we still dont have an album

saweetie is in the category of artist where i feel like theyre “best new artist” everyyear since debut and its been 6 years😭

She’s a dope business person. She stays getting a bag. She’s definitely marketable.

how have i never realized this 😅

Richtivities was like an adult version of icy girl. She should've kept that era

She out beat normani on the longest wait for a debut 😭

Something that’s not talked about a lot is the impact of her relationship on her early career. She and Quavo became an item relatively early which MIGHT have influenced her desire to switch up her persona/rap character from the icy girl era to the more provocative era. The relationship shaped her image (externally for sure, but maybe internally as well) and they became the power couple people loved to watch. The relationship falling apart publicly was timed perfectly with the decline in public interest towards her. People loved to watch them bc they both fit perfectly into the  “pretty rich couple” archetype that people could live vicariously through. Quavo’s favour with female listeners also fell off after the breakup (imo), also timed with the Migos breakup. That relationship was both great and handicapping for her career.

I feel like even Saweetie herself knows she's not really a serious artist but she can't flat out say that because it's not a good look lol.

10:49 totally agree - sampling has always been a part of hip hop BUT at what point do we stop? I believe Prince spoke on this once, he was against sampling for this reason - it’s getting to a point where the music is a sample of a sample of a sample of another sample 😅

Her “freestyles” are so much better than her actual songs. I think she needs to lean into that more.

I think if Saweetie went a rap Jhene Aiko route she would be golden. Very introspective modern girl issues songs, working on her flow & stop playing with her accent. She just always feels “on” I think her media training/business acumen is what’s getting in the way of her showing up as an artist. This was a great video.

Multiple reason why Saweetie is flopping
1. Focusing too much on being an influencer/relationship with rappers than making music
2. Cannot rap/ songs not catchy
3. Her label is no longer pushing her music
4. Waited too long to release an album (Just like the city girls, her era was in 2019, no one cares anymore about her)
