As someone who works in PR, once you get the email saying "I want this OR ELSE I'LL DO A THING YOU DON'T WANT" you breathe a big sigh of relief. That's extortion, baby.

White hair. Dark skin. Pale eyes. Magic powers...
Sounds like every single Drow character in D&D since the 1970s.

I literally put “D&D OC Opal” into google and got so many results of different character and wow! White hair and dark skin? It’s almost like people have similar ideas or something

‘How could they NOT have heard of me???’

Bro, I’m on the internet more than most of the voice actors featured on critical role and I’ve never knew of this person’s existence. Has she considered maybe they don’t use TikTok??

Accusing someone of stealing a character you created for D&D while saying with your whole chest that you based her personality on a character someone else created for television IN THE SAME BREATH? Damn that's entitlement.

The hilarity of naming a character after a (decently well known) semi-precious gemstone, giving her an appearance similar to the appearance of the gemstone, then somehow thinking you're the only one in the history of ever to come up with such an idea! What next, a druid dressed in green robes called Emerald? A fire genasi called Ruby? A darkly dressed rogue called Obsidian or Onyx?

-white hair
-tan/dark skin
-light colored eyes
-intelligent and a bit sultry
-wears a crystal around her neck
-has mystical powers

Kida (Atlantis: the lost empire) would like to have a word with hobo.

"She's like Alexis from Schitt's Creek, like my character" Ohhh so you didn't create an original character, you ripped off a character from a popular television show? Got it.

Some people have a hard time realizing that they're nowhere near as famous as they think they are.

I used to larp with her and her character is literally a Romani stereotype so suffice to say she is still unsavory

My grandmas name was Opal and she had tan skin, white hair and some people considered her a warlock. Can I sue?

@StygianAvery 1 year ago

I can't imagine how awkward a guest spot session would be between the CR team and the tiktokker who sued them.

Two completely different people from the UK/USA invented a character called “Denis the menace” and published the first comic of the same name on march 12 1951.

„The Legal Team was pretty hostile“
….
Yeah no shit!?
A legal team being careful/hostile around someone who threatens to sue and defame their famous client
Wooooooow that’s really unheard of

@AelfwynnHasFeelings-bp1vr 1 year ago

I for one cannot imagine the disconnect this Tiktokker had. There's nothing original about a character named Opal that has white hair, wears an opal necklace, and wears shimmery pink clothes. Have you ever seen an Opal? It just kind of comes naturally. "Oh this baby has white hair that reminds me of the flecks in an opal. Y'know what we should name her?"

@RynxDMC 8 months ago

I’m also willing to argue that her first Opal reveal looked a lot like Daenerys. 😂

@TheScarletMenagerie 1 year ago

Ok "Opal"?

That's giving my human fighter 'jack" a run for its money in the most generic fantasy name contest

@TeaIngyer 1 year ago

Imagine making D&D OC who looks like Elsa from Frozen, then making her tan to try to sue Critical Role for stealing your characters.

White girl playing a dark skinned human, mad at latina woman for playing a latina human woman…. That is so weird…

@climarathorn 1 year ago

Oh hey, I remember this when it happened. From what I recall her follower count took a major hit, her podcast burned to the ground, and most if not all of the major D&D TikTokers no longer want anything to do with her. All I could think was "Congratulations, you played yourself."
