Comparing Licensed Killers to Their Source Material

Dead by Daylight is well known for its amount of licensed content within the game. It remains one of the biggest selling points of the game and is a big part of what sets it apart from other asymmetrical games. In this video, I compare how well each licensed killer was translated over to DbD, looking into their appearances, important traits that make the character what they are, and their power.

This is that aforementioned “last DbD video” I was working on that I brought up in last week’s rant and community post. Going forward, I’m going to be taking an extended break from DbD due to the state of the game not being great at the moment for me. Yes, I’m aware BHVR has apologized for the mess that was the 9.1.0 patch, but the damage had already been done and my choice to do a content shift until the game improves hasn’t changed.

Expect some new games and playlists to start appearing either late this week or sometime next week depending on what my irl life schedule says to me. Hopefully if DbD gets better, I’ll be willing to bring it back into the rotation again alongside whatever new games/topics I bring to the channel :)

Im sure the axe for springtrap is a reference to that one 2015 song

@chronicallymatronic 1 year ago

The axe was fan service but other then that hes really accurate in behavior wise hes really theatrical and makes corny lines every time he kills and i love it

I find it funny how in Dbd, Sadako's counterplay is just turning the TVs off
So that implies that the dude at the end of the original Ringu could've prevent his death if he just turned the TV off😭🙏🏻

For Amanda, you didn't notice that they added her in as The Pig, not Jigsaw, which is why she has the crouch and ambush. As The Pig, she's the one who goes out to catch victims, where the entire tactic is stalking, hiding, waiting, then ambushing them.

A complaint I never liked with Springtrap is "he talks too much"

Because people saw the one game where Afton never talked and assumed that’s just how he is, ignoring how after that he is one of the biggest yappers that loves to hear himself talk

Pig’s ambush is pretty fitting. In Saw, when she’d capture people, you’d hear a roar and see Pig running at you.

kaneki acts like an animal because the entity purposely keeps him "hungry" and a ghoul's hunger pretty much makes them insane and see humans as literally food(kaneki once saw his best friend as a "tasyt food" because he couldn't handle ghoul hunger)

@Flowmations 1 year ago

Thank the entity Scott was basically breathing down the bhvr devs necks on making springtrap perfect for the fans

I always thought Weskers adaptation was practically flawless. It is irrefutably Wesker. He's cocky, which is shown by his voice lines and how he changes glasses after being stunned, he's fast and he's pure evil. Pretty damn accurate

Springtrap is so well translated, its impressive. You DO feel like the PNGs in the original game moving through cameras- with the whole door teleport. It's so sick.

@ethananderson2627 1 year ago

I don't understand why people say Kaneki isn't faithful, the entity grabbed him from the exact moment where he gave into his hunger, and it's stated that the entity keeps him enraged on purpose as well. He's extremely faithful in my opinion.

Dracula is another Vecna case where they had to narrow down their powers a LOT to fit this game, and feel kinda weird chasing after people instead of like, just nuking the entire trial lol. But overall, they did a good job at capturing the nature of their powers while still feeling balanced design-wise

I absolutely love the reference of calling Michael Myers "The Shape". Before the writers had settled on a name for him, the screenplay of Halloween simply referred to him as "The Shape," as they hadn't decided on any particular design. Just something simple, something vaguely human.

5:03 "Booping the snoot dosen´t match the source material" is amazing xd

@chaindragged 1 year ago

7:20 u are correct when u say pyramid head shouldn’t exist without James but incorrect when saying it’s only viewable to James. Other people in silent hill can view the other’s manifestations such as James being able to see and fight the abstract daddy which isn’t related to him at all

@jamesgiles4517 1 year ago

You forgot to mention when in the tunnels, xeno can detect survivors, implementating its tracking

@Springy9832 1 year ago

I would argue that Springtrap would be an S tier because everything that Behavior added HAD to be approved by Scott cuz he very meticulous and cautious about his franchise. Which is why he barely does any collabs in games

@OneBehindTheSlaughter 1 year ago

Dbd Kaneki is the same one from the same universe, he was taken after killing Jason and the entity has him in a constant state of hunger for blood and flesh, hence why he screams in pain so much. He doesn’t want to do this, but the pains from his hunger are too much to resist.

@EeveeShadowBacon 1 year ago

Pyramid Head is pretty interesting. It’s kind of a “Fuck You” from Silent hill itself, since he goes with a built in mori and alternative wincon to just killing the survivors. The lore does stably imply The Silent Hill itself gave Pyramid Head the power to screw over the greedy Entity pluck it from its grasp.
