There are some guys who can work but just have shitty movesets too and it kills it for me. Like MACARONI with no cheese. 😂

Fun fact: No one ever kicked out of The Razor’s Edge by Razor Ramon. It’s as protected as the Burning Hammer.

Young Kofi Kingstons moveset was very fun and worked the crowd into his palms

I'll never forgive the dumbass wikipedia moderators for removing the movesets from Wrestler pages on there.

Love seeing younger fans show love to the kings road and strong style art or wrestling

My goat mitsuharu misawa in the back

Kris Statlander has been impressing me a lot lately. I like that she added the scissor kick to her moveset.

5:18 FINALLY someone said it

Macaroni. I love Kings Road style bc anyone on any language can understand it, doesn’t require talking it’s all about two people trying to break each other down until one pulls out a crazy move. It’s a universal language

Prime Scott Steiner had a helluva moveset. Freakin' insane.

Cool moves is what makes wrestling fans, period.

It's a visual medium, so making people go "wow that looks so cool" is how you hook them in. The bad community theater that the IWC insists is more important will make them leave if the wrestling moves aren't cool looking.

one thing that makes me love wrestling is the attention to detail. the name "The Phenomenal One" fits AJ so well because of him being the most phenomenal wrestler ever. "The Best Bout Machine" is attached to Omega because of how incredible he performs. they back up everything they say, it’s the little things that make a big impact

ok i'm gonna yap a whole bunch about okada, but before that lemme just say, this is a great video, and shoutouts to shingo takagi. pumping bomber --> made in japan --> last of the dragon is one of the SICKEST signature move triumvirates in all of wrestling. his moveset RULES

(warning, this okada yap session is LONG lmfao, i promise it's going somewhere but yeah, it's long)

now, okada is one of my all-time fav wrestlers, and the main thing i've always loved about him is, for lack of a better term, the aura around him. and i don't necessarily mean that in the way of being like oh he looks really cool, he has the coolest entrance, the coolest outfit, all this charisma, yada yada yada (though all that stuff certainly helps lol), i mean more in the way that he wrestles, and the way he presents himself in-ring

like that slow measured pace, his calm collected demeanor, the way he always seems to be pacing himself, the way a lot of his big matches (especially in his prime) seemed to go long, like 25-30+ mins, that whole okada style. all that stuff didn't necessarily make ALL of his matches better in a vacuum, he def had big matches in that era that could've been better if they had like 5-10 mins cut out, or if okada wrestled with more urgency. but even if some matches suffered for it, okada wrestling that style had the effect of constantly reinforcing his character, constantly reinforcing the aura of invincibility about him, making him SUPER convincing in his role as this absolute Titan that was nigh impossible to defeat, and this dynamic made him an ultra imposing figure in njpw. so when people like omega or naito or old man tanahashi were trying to get big victories over prime okada, trying to climb that enormous mountain (or in the case of someone like shibata, almost die trying), it hits 100x harder, it makes the biggest okada matches feel like the most important thing in the world, and it makes the few big Ls he takes feel genuinely monumental

and, to get back to the topic of the video, i think okada's moveset also reinforces this dynamic, ESPECIALLY when you compare him to, for example, kenny omega. cause their movesets are structured in a pretty similar way, they both have their one big killshot (the rainmaker and the one winged angel) and then a bunch of signature offense they use to soften their opponent up for it. but, as you talked about, most of kenny's signature offense is super crazy high-impact stuff, suplexes and head drops and dives and probably the nastiest knee strike in wrestling history, while okada's signature offense isn't QUITE as crazy. he has multiple neckbreaker variations, he likes a nice ddt (a regular one or an orton-style hanging one), he likes a few diff neck crank submissions, and obv he has the dropkick plus the 3-4 different moves he's used to transition directly into the rainmaker (tombstone, cobra flowsion, he used a big german suplex for a little while, and i think there's one more i'm forgetting)

so while okada's moveset isn't as high-impact as kenny's, it's all very focused. all of the signature okada moves that i can think of (besides his elbow off the top rope) target either the head or the neck, which is obv what the rainmaker targets as well. so almost every single thing he does during a match all moves towards the ultimate goal of softening his opponent's neck so that the rainmaker does the maximum possible damage, whereas kenny is a bit more scattered. he's not quite gonna target a specific area and go after it over and over, he's just gonna try and overwhelm his opponent with one piece of high-impact offense after another, until they're finally beat up enough that they can't counter the one winged angel. but while kenny is able to make this strategy work, cause he's a once-in-a-generation athletic FREAK, okada's method, while not as awe-inspiring to watch, is prob more consistent when it comes to winning matches. again, constantly reinforcing okada's character, reinforcing his position as the final boss of that era

like omega is kinda like a really good s-tier fighting game character who's super hype to watch and has a bunch of crazy tech that makes them really fun and exciting, while okada's like an ultra busted s+ tier character who can win by just enacting the same OP strategy over and over. one blows your mind every time you watch them, while the other has you questioning how anyone could ever beat them, and imo their movesets tell this story really nicely

sorry if that was too long or kinda incoherent lol, i just love okada and omega a LOT and could yap about them for hours. and again, i loved the video, this was great stuff man. MACARONI 👍

pac probably has my current favorite moveset he just beats people up like crazy

You've now ascended bro!! 90s AJPW and 2000's Noah are fucking peak!🔥🔥💯

11:08 Hey! Phrasing!

In terms of people coming up now with really good movesets, I love that Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi keep finding themselves in matches together, because their in-ring styles combine to tell the perfect story of “I’ll crush you” “You’ll have to catch me” every time

Right the moveset is as important  as the character itself

13:20 Gunther my favorite too

Ngl I'd say the coolest moveset belongs to Hirooki Goto
