No one decides the truth is more dangerous than a story. THE TRUTH IS SACRED AS THE CREATOR. The truth will always come to light no matter how hidden, buried, or twisted into fancy words written to glorify a corrupt government.

Isn't 6 foot 12 usually known as 7 foot?

Thank you for this — it is much closer to the narrative of Luc Sante's "Low Life" than the simplified (if entertaining) "Gangs of New York" film.

Any good nonfiction books on the gangs in the Victorian era in America.

The true story sounds better and could have been made into multiple movies

It was a genocide perpetrated by the British on the Irish , not a famine 🇮🇪

Poverty, ideologies, overpopulation, sickness, blind hatred, lawlessness, corruption... as interesting as history can be, there was nothing to romanticize here. What a hellish scape and existence in that era. Don't forget to be thankful that most of us will never know anything close to what those folks went through.

It actually had 2 big battles. One that opened the film, where Priest Vallen was killed by Bill. Its what kicks off the main story. Then, theres the batle at the end where Amsterdam kills Bill to avenge his father, Priest. It also acts as the lead-in to the riot at the end.
