The cutscenes really aren't that bad. The problem with the English voice acting is that Capcom literally grabbed tourists, English teachers and random people with minimal experience off the streets of Japan. Those "actors" didn't really know what scenes they were acting out; they spoke their lines with next to no direction and there wasn't enough budget for second takes or sound remixing. Capcom also ended up reusing the same actors across different games, for example both Megaman and Megaman X in the 90s were voiced by the same woman, Ruth Shiraishi. When contacted to share her experiences recording the voice of Megaman, she said no one even told her that some of her lines would be used in different games!

There have been redubs done by much more competent fans who actually took the time to produce something worthwhile, I suggest you look them up.

I love "Jump! Jump! Slide! Slide!" I think it's cute and fun, and it's a good way to give an audio cue for an autoscroller.

“Nahhh world is mine! Gacha!”
-Dr Wily (1996)

There's an alternate universe where everything is exactly the same, except YouTube poop got started on the megaman 8 cutscenes instead of the Zelda cdi cutscenes

Dude 8 is actually my favorite, as a kid i played all the mainline games but I  ALWAYS liked the funny cutscenes and every sound in the game gave me sayurday cartoon vibes. I for sure even today get flashbacks of playing this in the computer lab off a flashdrive instead of doing my senior project. Happy to see someone stand up for my childhood. You really earned this sub.
PS I actually like the gimmicks, despite the snowboarding being so hard for me I was so happy when it came back in the Wily stage. I also remember a kids next foor game that played like the flight section and I loved both instances. There's also a a game called Katana Zero where they break the floor like Grenade man, once again loved both instances

Astro Man, 1996

I love the Arrow Shot, its so broken.
I also love Duo, for how much his presence expands on the unknown lore of Megaman.

Edit: One thing I like using for Wily Phase 1 is using the Rush Bike, just to try to get as much damage as I can get before it's time runs out.

Megaman 8 is by far one of my favourite megaman games. The only real criticism is the easy difficulty and subsequently the length.

But even the difficulty. I gave this game to someone who doesn't play video games, and they found it very hard to play. And rewarding. This game would have appealed to a similar skilled target audience

I've been with Mega Man since the very beginning and it wasn't until I played MM8 that I found the one that truly vibed with me. Love the graphics, music, and voice acting - as cheesy as it is. Top tier for the series in my opinion.

5:52 ZX MENTIONED LEG'S GOOOOOOOO

I had already played other games in the series, but it was Mega Man 8 that made me fall in love with the franchise. It is my favorite. I don't know if it was because I was lucky enough to get the original Japanese version, but prior to this title, the only game in the franchise that had kept me hooked for so long was Mega Man Battle & Chase—since it was my first PlayStation 1 game.

Mega Man 8 was my introduction to the series and I was 4 at the time lol. Nostalgia aside, MM8 is a PSX classic and adult me still listens to the soundtrack to this day.

3:19 we desperately need a remix of Mega Man screaming to “The Great Gig In The Sky” by Pink Floyd

I love this game.

Whoever says it's "bad" is only parroting the "Voice acting bad" and "2 snowboard stages bad" claims.

Otherwise, each stage is very pretty to look at, the soundtrack has nothing but bangers, each stage has its own gimmick.

I need to try this once sometime. It's a blind spot for me. Love the memes though. Good video as always.

Love seeing someone who appreciates Megaman 8 so much! Fun tip, you can actually angle your mega ball shots much more vertically by holding up while kicking them, it helps a lot with the Wily 1 boss!

GREAT video my friend
Megaman 8 is one of my favorites.
its atmosphere is a perfect time capsule, and its soundtrack is a regular go to.

Im actually developing a game of my own, LUCID
it is heavily inspired by the Megaman series.

I would LOVE to hear what you think :D

all the best!

Eric

I remember this game as the first game I ever played on PS1. How many hours i poured into this game with my brothers. Sucks that we didn’t have a memory card back then, so we would have to complete the game in one play. Which took us hours and hours. But still my favorite game until this day and I still listen to the sound track. We would all laugh at the cringey voice lines and just appreciate the challenge. I just recently introduced the game to my little brother and he loves the challenge. PS stage select is by far the best mega man sound track.

The voice acting for megaman left my bro and I missed. After coming off the American cartoon we were like wtf happened?😂

I loved 8 its probably my second fav when i was younger. Now its like megaman 2, 11, 8
