Mark Simmons, one of the sharpest joke writers in the country (maybe the world? Maybe the universe?) is here and his five brilliant things give an insight into the man behind the gags. From Taekwondo tournaments to Wrestling and the thrills of Mr Miyagi, you can see that his discipline in joke-writing comes from a deep love of Eastern sports and arts. And…um…wrestling?

Mark is about to start the Autumn leg of his ‘Jest to Impress’ tour, and basically you won’t get more jokes per pound spent at any other show. He’s a terrific comedian and you should go.

I met Pat Morita a couple of weeks before he passed away at one of the earlier London Comic Cons and got him to sign my karate kid box set. We had quite a long chat and the topic got onto what I was doing that evening and I said was going drinking with friends. I told him my drink of choice was bourbon and he got really animated as it was also his and he asked me where was good to go in town for a good bourbon selection. Before I left he reached under the table and presented me with a bottle of makers mark and quietly said "I asked them to provide me with bourbon as a condition for doing the con and I won't be able to drink it all" and gave me a wink. I wish I'd got him to sign the bottle too. Such a cool moment.

Saw Mark in southend he was brilliant. Had no idea he was a big wrestling fan too! Loved the effort he would put in for the punch lines that make you sigh (in a good way)

Hey Russ, Its incredible how you still do your podcast and your shows, with what you are going true. It takes real strength. Its good to still see you laughing, even if its just the outside. All my love and strength to you and Cerys ❤

I’ve never heard of Mark Simmons. Very pleasantly surprised that his first one was wrestling related as a fan myself

09:23 I assume he means wrestling 20+ years ago because now anyone who "returns" has been telegraphed repeatedly in the lead up so it's about as surprising as finding water is wet. The writers for wrestling gave up a long time ago.
