I've taken 4 drops of 2% Lugol's every day for 50 years. Prior to that as a child I took 1 drop daily. As did my mother and grandmother. During the Spanish Flu my grandmother, born in 1889 was a nurse. She took iodine and baking soda every day as did her family, none got the Flu even though with worked with Flu patients in the 1910 and early 1920s.

I have congestive heart failure and was on a medication for atrial fibrillation called amioderone no after being pulled off and switched I have to a new medication I have induced hyperthyroidism now after being on this med for 10 years so I’m currently going through this now

Dr. Jay notes that fluoride is chemically similar to iodine. If you are iodine-deficient, your thyroid may mistakenly incorporate fluoride, which disrupts its function [19:10].

Dr. Jay suggests eliminating fluoride from drinking water and dental products to protect the thyroid [19:54].

He notes that most people benefit from a combination of Vitamin D3, K2, and Iodine [09:44].

You missed the influence of bromine, which is another halogen that competes with iodine for absorption by the thyroid. Bromine may come in via the diet (brominated flour or brominated vegetable oil in citrus drinks) or flame retardants (PBDE). Often the negative results of high-dose iodine are actually from the body flushing out bromine.
