Top 10 Worst NES Games of All Time (according to fans)

This Top 10 list shows what NES fans consider "the worst," "terrible," or just plane "bad" games for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Obviously the AVGN has a lot of influence here, but wow these games are terrible. Footage captured from a modded NES mini. A handful of games didn't work on it so I had to emulate them on the PC using Nestopia.

Have to stand up for Friday the 13th. It's isn't one of the best games, but it definitely doesn't belong on a bottom 10 list. I think this is just AVGN influence. The first time that you play Friday the 13th with no instructions, it's difficult to figure out what is going on. After you spend like 20 minutes with it and you have a general idea of what you are supposed to do, it's a fun game.

Action 52 in theory: The player is buying fifty-two games for the price of four.
Action 52 in practice: None of the games on that cart are worth one cent.

I had a blast playing Friday the 13th. I was almost able to beat it. Great game.

The rule I had back then was to avoid video games tied to movies.
Most of their budgets were spent on the license, which limited the game development.

Friday the 13th is not a bad game, just a misunderstood one. If there was more direction and less confusion it actually could have been special

Damn, Friday the 13th getting hated on too much here by the interwebs. It's cryptic and confusing until you learn it. But tons of NES games are like that. It's a lot of fun, especially for horror fans. That being said - good video!

Deadly Towers would accurately be described as a roguelike today. The biggest complaint I see is that everything seems random, but none of it is. With enough time, you can easily find and map out every dungeon, including their secret entrances. The enemy behavior wasn’t random either, even if it seemed a little chaotic at times. It was absolutely a game that you got better at the more you played. I owned it and eventually beat it, and it was very rewarding to do so.

You got me with Tyson’s Punch Out! My eyes almost popped out of my head from rolling them so hard. Good one. Haha. 😆

Friday the 13th was such a solid game. It did take time to learn and understand fully, but it made victory so much more sweet. It was hard, and had lots of things to learn and figure out... it was a game of patience and often slow progress... so i understand why it wasn't for everyone, but it was ahead of its time in many ways and had better replay value than most games.

Friday 13th is actually an excellent and highly unique game.

@dabbadoo2226 1 year ago

No way Friday the 13th should be on this list

@flyingsquirrell622 1 year ago

The very mention of Bill and Ted... jolted the memory of that game theme song... lol

I’ve never played Friday the 13th and it doesn’t seem great. However it doesn’t look terrible either, given hardware limitations once you figure out game mechanics and how the map works. Thanks for keeping up the channel.
