"Im differant" said the ego. Shortly before death.

That Sherpa went above and beyond trying to help those men. Much more than they deserved.

Ground level success stimulates the ego. The ego gets you to the Death Zone, then it dies.

I will never understand why it's considered an accomplishment to climb that mountain without using oxygen. It just seems incredibly stupid to me. All that Dead Zone talk, crazy.

People are plain idiots. Doing this extreme climb with very little oxygen is basicaly a suicide mission. But people are happy to take that huge risk. Same this year

The saddest thing about this is that they were all in excellent condition and had the skills to have successfully summited. I don't understand their bias against using oxygen. Did they think not using it made them more manly? Their deaths were sad and unnecessary.

How can this happen? There's no excuse for not carrying an oxygen supply with you in case you run into trouble.

At least people with too much hubris are being regularly removed from existence at Mt Everest and the nearby 26K feet + mountains 😅

Climbing that mountain isn't for everyone. It shouldn't be treated like a tourist destination or sightseeing. You must be prepared to suffer, die or lose limbs from frostbite. If you don't have the skills and experience, the tf away!

Tomás, the way he blankly marched ahead... I have done that. He was suffering brain damage, in his determined, disciplined way. Poor soul. And what a brave man Chaudhury is!!

best to carry the O2 & not need to use it than to not carry it and then needing it.

Tomas prolly said along the lines of "The mountain drew me or wants me" or something along the lines of that.

How are they even allowed to climb without a guide and proper equipment? They need to be able to pay for body removal or emergency. They only think about themselves. Respect the mountain, Everestt don't play.
