The explanation about picking only the key skills instead of drowning in all the data tools makes so much sense, I actually just note down the critical ones in Pneumatic Workflow between job apps.

My advice on top of all this is to just do it, don't let anything hold you back, you'll land the role you want eventually, noone knows what they're doing when they first start and you won't until you are in there doing it

Realistic View
While tools like Python and Tableau are highly valuable, SQL, Excel, and Power BI dominate the everyday tasks of most analysts. They are flexible, accessible, and sufficient for 80-90% of workflows.

For those in more technical roles, adding Python/R for advanced analytics and cloud tools for large-scale data is essential. But realistically speaking, SQL, Excel, and Power BI/Tableau are indispensable 100% of the time

The other approach that can be effective is to get a non anylyst job at a big company. Then use your Excel skills (you likely won't have access to SQL and definitely not Python) in whatever job you have. Network and a data job will find you. Big companies need analysts and prefer hiring their own people. I didn't even need to interview for my current analyst role. They knew what I could do and had a need. Didn't even have to interview. I put in the work to build my skills and used them in my non -analyst role even outside of my team, but it was my foot in the door.

I have seen videos how would one become data analyst in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Still haven’t gotten any role yet😂😂😂. Hopefully this year I will make it.

That's what I was looking for. Someone who tells what each role do. As a radiologist, health analyst makes sense to me. Thank you, Avery!

makes it sound so much less scary, thx

Honestly, I wasted too much time trying to learn everything before and wish I had this low-hanging fruit mindset from the start, like now I just track what I’ve learned in pneumaticworkflow during my portfolio build.

I’m not in a typical data role, rather project office related. However I use Power BI to create many dashboards looking at data in this area. I’ve been using Power BI for the last 7 years on and off with no official training.

I recently completed a 6 week training course for Tableau and I have to say my preference is Power BI. It’s a lot more intuitive and great when combined with any Microsoft data sources

Advice: the music is nice but too loud generating distraction.

This is far one of the best videos I’ve seen on this topic. I absolutely love your recommendations. I’m hoping for a speedy career change into data analytics this year 2025. 🙏🏽👍

BEST VIDEO I EVER WATCHED IN THAT SUBJECT. THANK YOU A MILLION !!!

@waiphyotun7633 1 year ago

thanks for inspiration.. I've unexpectedly came into the world of the data analysis and spending most of my time with excel, power bi.. great video but music is a bit too loud.

When the speaker mentioned tailoring apps to your background, that hit home—Pneumatic Workflow is where I keep all my job application drafts so I don’t lose track jumping between roles.

This is great information. Thank you so much. 😊

Also Tablue and python are mentioned heavily everywhere. But power bi is easier and once u get going advanced work-arounds come handy, provides good dashboarding, and hence i dont prefer y'all to learn tablue.
One of my frnds knew tablue but never worked on it cuz we had microsoft env in our company!
And while sql being the backbone almost everywhere. Either being support tasks or on azure databricks.
