My Honest FC27 Review After Playing 100 Hours

It’s become a bit of a tradition on this channel to play 100 hours, then make a review of the latest FIFA game. I’ve been doing it since 2023, and yesterday I crossed that mark with FC27. It’s given me time to see how the new features work, to see if they work, and put together a pretty solid review of career mode this year. Unlike previous years, i’ve not touched FUT for a single game, so this will be entirely talking about Career Mode.
So, how is the game mode this year? Is it still fun in 2026? Are there any game-breaking bugs? And what things still need improving for this game to be perfect? I’m going to try to answer every single one of those questions in today’s video.
So, let’s start with probably the most important question. Is FC 27 Career Mode playable this year? I think it’s borderline. Single season saves are mostly fine, but as soon as you want to start a second season, you’re kind of screwed. In my FC26 review I said the opposite, everything worked, but FC27 is back to the FC24 and FC25 style of game where bugs really do hurt your game.
I’ve started a Bristol City save, that i’ve had to put on pause about 10 months into the game. About 20 of my players are on the transfer list, which is insane, given they can’t all be complaining about minutes. Because they’re on the the transfer list, I can’t control their transfers, so if a bid comes in, they’re gone. Normally that’d be a fun challenge, to rebuild a team in that way, but transfers are also so tough it’s better to wait for a patch than to try.
The reason for the mass transfer listing is because of the new minutes system, which means when a crucial player has 41% or higher stamina, they expect to play. Except when you quick sim games, the AI doesn't play players with low stamina. Also, that means they’re fit to play for like 20 minutes max, even then will feel sluggish and slow, so I think a lot of that issue would go if it was increased to 60%, instead of 40%.
When you want to sign a player, the AI is randomly given interest in them. A lot of the time the interest makes no sense, like Polish league players going to Mexico, or Turkish players heading to Korea. And then there’s the new regen system that was pumping out 82 rated 16 year olds regularly, so in season two, Sheffield United would have teenagers as good as Rooney and Owen’s but that’s hopefully fixed in a patch by the time you watch this video.
It’s a real shame, because the general consensus is that the new features are really good. Take dynamic overall, I actually love that feature. There can be edge cases that let you get a 75 rated player in League One, but for 95% of teams, it’s a great feature that lets you rotate and use different players. It makes form feel like it matters, injuries affect it and so much more. Same with the updated transfer values, wonderkid hunting is harder, except for the fact those teenage prodigies are spawning in the free agents.
If you enjoy finding young players, developing them, creating a team, and winning trophies, then I think FC 27 Career Mode is probably the best game on the market for doing that. The slight deviance from realism does mean you can do things you can’t do in Football Manager — and the fact that the PES Master League is only in a switch game makes it out of reach for m ost people.
It just needs to patch those issues with transfer listing, wonderkids and tune player interest to make more sense. I think realism is something important to touch on as well, because there’s still not much of it from the AI. You’ll see Harry Maguire going to Atlético Madrid, you’ll see Jarrod Bowen becoming Barcelona’s star striker in season two, and you’ll see Matheus Cunha moving from Manchester United to Brentford.
The same happens with managers, you might see Arteta move to Coventry, Simeone at Valencia or Mourinho move to Le Mans, weird moves from a feature that means well, but was never meant to provide more realism. Anyway, the next question we usually answer is: is the game actually fun?
