This abandoned temple complex is absolutely enormous. Each time I thought you must have seen it all by now more buildings appeared! Wasn't expecting the statues to be hand-made with clay on site, but your comments about transportation difficulties made it make sense. This was a really interesting video about somewhere I did not know of an hour ago. Thank you 👍

That speaks volumes. All the hype and who la la about the grand craftmanship. Turns out it's just mud, straw, sticks and blocks of insulating foam. In short it cost nothing to build, yet they ran out of money. It's sad how many people are decieved.

Incredible to see statues being made with the Wattle and Daub technique. Still used today, it is a 6000-year-old construction method of mud and sticks. Never seen it used for something so intricate though.

Yangshan Qiyin Temple, also known as Qiyin Chan Temple or the former Longshou Temple, is a historic, recently reconstructed Buddhist site located atop Yangshan Mountain in Mentougou District, Beijing, near Cherry Valley. Dating back over 1,500 years to the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was a prominent Liao-Jin royal temple, now known for its dramatic mountain scenery, 500+ pagodas, and 5 peaks, but recently noted as a large-scale, halted construction project.
