Anyone who bumps into Mr Shrimp foraging amongst the trees can say they found a fun guy in the woods.

" Empty basket, full heart" is a lovely concept, thank you again.

That foraging section at the start of the vid epitomised 90% of my own joyous foraging trips. The bent double wanderings, the sound of snapping branches, the welling of hope at a sighting followed all too frequently by the ‘only a leaf’ of disappointment and finally, the heady mix of a sadly empty basket tempered with the optimistic certainty that a fist sized cep was definitely in the one place I didn’t look.
Thank you for taking me back there sir.😊

I adore my glimpse of places I will almost certainly never visit through the eyes of atomic shrimp.

Perhaps an empty basket, but a full heart. How sweet 🥰

"From fffffff to sssssss". Glad to finally learn the proper terminology!

There's just something in the air during the end of summer/beginning of fall in the woods, the trees are starting to "go to sleep" and the summer residents are moving on to their winter homes. There's a quiet stillness that starts to arrive as everyone moves on and those that stay are preparing for winter. You can feel everything slowing down, the air tastes different and the light changes. Having a large chunk of woodland next to my house is one of the things I love the most about where I live, I get turkeys plodding thru the neighborhood, a herd of deer that has lived in the area for years now and a pack of coyotes that come thru for mating season and make an unholy racket about the affair.

You could almost hear Eva saying "Badgers? We don't need no stinkin' BADGERS!" And to tag on to the commenter who picked up the Firefly reference, I'll add "Sure would be nice if we had some GRENADES!"

What's a 'leftover roast potato'? I know the concept I've just never managed to see one the next day because I've eaten them all.

Mr Shrimp is in his pie era I think 😅

Yesterday I was thinking about Mr. Shrimp mentioning Insect Friends because I met some Insect Friends along my driveway:  two argiopes had built webs at right angles to one another.  They tend not to build so closely so that was interesting.  The webs were large (as argiope webs tend to be), more than a yard across each.  But the truly unusual thing is that the threads were bright golden and shining in the sun.  Really beautiful.  Most webs are white, so finding golden ones was a rare joy.  Argiopes abound here in my little corner of Mississippi in late summer, and I look forward to seeing them.

Over the last few weeks, I've found that these are perfect videos to do morning work to. Cozy little stroll while I answer emails, even if I can't do the cozy little stroll myself.

Possibly a new series there , Atomic Shrimp pointing at things 😄

I love these videos, part ramble, part something else, all wonder and joy at the world and the things in it--including cooking.

I haven’t even had my breakfast yet and Shrimpy is hitting me with all these flavours! Oh time for a couple of boiled eggs and soldiers.
☘️👍

The camera reflections of the pooled water in the center of the Brown Roll makes it appear that there are tiny faerie critters swimming around in a bottle cap-sized pond. So weird.

We've had such a hot summer in New England that I have barely cooked, but the temps are finally going down, and I've got big soup plans this week. Your mushroom gravy could easily transition to a soup.  YUM

I know the English love to always put marmite or soy sauce into everything, but you could also achieve a nice browning in a different way : Just put a teaspoon of tomate concentrate into your pan at the beginning, fry it with the mushrooms for a few minutes, and mix it well in. It will add additional flavor and become really brown

Dear Atomic Shrimp, given that by this point you are undoubtedly one of the leading PieTubers, may I suggest you make a video where you try and make "the best pie". A pie that holds nothing back and would be fit to be served to a medieval king. Something that might not be practical for every day cooking but is more of a once in 10 years show stopper pie?  Maybe what would make it special is some of the ingredients are not things you can easily buy, but must be made with care over time or can only be foraged.

15:03 a wild firefly reference. A man of good taste.

Time to have a look for field mushrooms. My step father used to get us up and our the door at silly o'clock.
