It’s funny in of itself, critical roll was like, “we want to make an animated special” and the fans were like “you mean an entire animated series right” and CR goes “um no we meant” the fans went “nonsense here’s 11.5 million don’t spend it all in one place”. And well here we are.

Fun fact; Laura Bailey and Taliesin Jaffe (Vex and Percy, respectively) had to voice act their sex scene in front of the entire cast. Apparently, Travis Willingham (Grog and Laura's husband) was laughing at her and pointing the entire time😂😂😂

For anyone curious about Pike's occasional absences, her player Ashley Johnson was busy filming a show in a different part of the country for a portion of the campaign, and sometimes would be able to join remotely so they used the "projected Pike" as a way of being like. Oh the connection to the God isn't as good so she can't be here today (she's busy working)

Fun fact: the length of this video is equal to just two episodes of the Dungeons & Dragons Twitch stream that this series is adapted from.

them saying "she's the avatar" to Keyleth's mom and the character being voiced by Korra's actress is amazing.😂 2:55:29

Funnily enough, during the actual game Scanlin DID try to claim that his loot was just an instrument so he could take it to the diner. Matt Mercer, the DM, was playing the guard and he put on the hilarious voice for the guard and something along the lines of "yeah, the bard's loot is just an instrument and the assassin's dagger is just cutlery".

28:39 A quote from critical role: "Some leave no survivors because they don’t want there to be witnesses. Others, however, leave no survivors because they fear the potential monsters they themselves could create."

One of the craziest bits of this to me is that final song. Sam recorded it at home at like 1am before he underwent cancer surgery on his throat. It's literally the last recording of his old voice. I'm sure he can still sing, but his voice was definitely affected.

Oh wow, just noticed when Scanlan asks Percy who the sixth barrel was for at 1:12:06 Percys shadow (Orthax) was pointing the gun at his head.

Fun fact: The animation department had an entire team dedicated to designing and animating all the dragons. Like no joke Brimscythe(the lightning guy from season 1) was ok but the remaining chroma conclave are absolutely insane with their design, animation, and effects.

Grog actually is immune to poison... As long as he's wearing his belt. Its pretty clearly meant to be the classic D&D item Belt of Dwarvenkind, which magically grants the wearer all the upsides of being a dwarf: improved Constitution (which increases your HP and resistance to stuff like exhaustion), immunity to poison and disease, and a luxurious beard.

So in the campaign, there are rolls and checks for resurrection. If someone dies, they very well can be dead forever. In fact in the campaign Percy came back I believe in the next episode, but was close to not doing so. For the sake of television they extended his death and made the requirements for coming back more circumstantial.

Tiny details for you all: Pike is a cleric, not a paladin. Paladins are pretty strict in their moral codes. But either one runs into trouble with their magic if theyre not in alignment with their god's teachings. And dragons can talk on their own. They're not people that turn into dragons. Dragons have magic and enough intelligence to speak. If anything, its the other way around. They're dragons that can shape-shift into people.

They’ve definitely made resurrection far more difficult and rare in the series as opposed to the game. It’s made very clear that Percy’s resurrection only works because his soul was right there in the gun, and it still incurs a heavy cost. There were plenty of deaths in the game, like each member of Vox Machina died at least once, Scanlan died to Raishan as opposed to just entering a coma here. I think they do want to only choose the deaths that had the most impact, Vex and Percy’s deaths were definitely the ones that had to be adapted.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Matthew Mercer & Taliesin Jaffe had never actually discussed what would happen when Percy's Pepperbox ran out of names. There was a really twisted fan theory that his own name would show up, out of guilt for inventing firearms.

Luckily for Ruff, there's PLENTY of 'Table to Screen' videos, to see the actual moments in the campaign and how they happened at the table.

Towards the question why you wouldn't cremate every single dead person in a world where undead exists:
- You can't stop incorporeal undead like banshees, shadows and wights that way
- It is orders of magnitude harder to revive someone if you have no body to do it with
- Some spells that actively prevent the creation of undead need a body to work on
