🎞️ Waterfall Day Out with Phill 414. Two Setbacks but Great Successes - Sl...
Welcome to my video journal following my new life in Wales after 25 years living in London. A career in television and film took me to London but in my 40's I became disillusioned with the industry. It took many years of soul searching to realise that I craved a quieter life, a slower pace amongst a rural environment, ideally in the mountains and living off the land by a stream. My health over the past decade hasn’t been great so am aiming to reduce my body weight and become fitter and healthier as my 50's progress. As a child I loved the television series The Waltons and in my own way I’m recreating my own John Boy’s journal. So feel free to follow my journey as I aim to become as self-sufficient as possible and learning from the old skills along the way.

In this episode Sean heads out for a morning walk in the rain as part of a new health routine followed by a visit to the village cafe for a cuppa tea. At home homemade leek, pea and butternut squash is made in a soup maker. In the cottage garden the rambling roses are tied back. We then head out in the car over the Rhigos mountain to a garden centre in Swansea before visiting the little welsh village of Ystradgynlais which includes a shop selling pottery created by Keith Brymer Jones (a British potter and ceramic designer who produces homeware with retro lettering and punk motifs. He is an expert judge on Channel 4 television programme The Great Pottery Throw Down). While driving back home to the Rhondda Valleys Sean takes a detour into the village of Banwen which reminds him of his 1970s childhood. Banwen is a small village in Neath Port Talbot county borough in Wales. Banwen is part of the community of Onllwyn along with the village of Onllwyn itself and the adjacent parish of Dyffryn Cellwen. Banwen is in the Upper Dulais Valley, with views over the southern slopes of the Brecon Beacons. As we return to Rhondda Cynon Taff Sean stops on top of the Rhigos mountain and the mystery mug is still sitting on a rock.

Disagreement is absolutely fine. Abuse is not. Personal attacks, abusive comments, insults or deliberately hurtful remarks towards me or anyone else will be removed, and people who repeatedly behave this way may be blocked from the channel.
I could simply choose not to upload anything at all — and, at times, that would certainly be the easier option. But I want to continue sharing videos and maintaining the community we’ve built here. All I ask is that we treat each other with a little patience, understanding and respect while things are difficult.
Thank you to everyone who continues to watch, comment and engage respectfully. It genuinely makes continuing to upload worthwhile.
