What do you do when your tarot spread makes absolutely no sense? The cards look too cheerful, too grim, or completely wrong for their positions, and knowing their individual meanings isn’t helping.
In this practical tarot tutorial, we’ll explore confusing three-card spreads, swap cards to see how the reading changes, and look at how to use clarifier cards without pulling half the deck until it tells you what you want to hear.

The spread included a "Mental State" position, and he pulled The Sun. I was baffled because I had always associated that card purely with joy, and he was definitely not happy 😅.
But then he said, "Even though I'm shattered, things are finally clear now. No more lies, no more secrets. I'm sad, but I also feel relieved."
That's when it clicked for me. The Sun casts light and brings hidden things to the surface... even if what it reveals breaks your heart. It’s not always just bright and joyful!
I would write down the question and the cards I pulled, and a week or a month, or even a year later I would go, oh that was the message. Maybe now when I sit down for a reading I can get the message in real time 😂.
The most confusing readings for me are those where a bunch of court cards come up. Do the cards represent people I know? Some aspect of myself? Imagine cards 7 - 10 in a Celtic Cross spread are all court cards. WTH??Or the Future card is a court card and the clarifier is too. The struggle is real.
This video was so helpful!! I hyped it and wow Kippi, 620 points!!
One thought that came to mind about the Queen of Swords is to uphold a logical mindset (sword held upright with authority), but hold it lightly, let it go gently/carefully (the butterfly being released from the Queen's hand).
Maybe a conversation with the tarot about things that help and hinder your magickal practice?
