You're not suppose to center pull with the ball hanger.   It's meant to be taken from the outside 😊

I believe yarn spinners only REALLY work properly for outside pull, not center pull.

So if anyone is curious Milk cotton yarn is usually an acrylic yarn sometimes an acrylic and something else man-made blend, that was made to mimic Cotton yarn, specifically being matte and more defined compared to normal acrylic, and be easier to work with then cotton

You didn't embarrass yourself. You performed thorough product testing for a range of use cases.
I'm currently trying out some new light (DK, Spott) cottons in the form of TL Yarn Sunshine Coasters.

I was painting Project Hail Mary fanart while watching this video! Sidenote, I really appreciate that you make full projects for testing yarn and not just a swatch, I feel like that gives a much better impression of what it's actually like

I deleted TikTok a while ago and still watched this as soon as I saw it pop up. Ha. The best part of this video is the way you build trust with your honesty and just by being you!

The yarn spinner is for outer pulling of the yarn. You can't  innerpull with the yarn spinner.

I never do a center pull so I feel these yarn spinners are good for me.
I think I'm going to get it for myself for my birthday

I love my yarn spinner. I wind every skein into pancake, but I put an empty toilet paper or one from paper towel cardboard into the middle and just leave it in. It keeps the center open.

They have really wordy titles so they come up in every conceivable search. Those tiktok shops seem suspiciously like temu drop ship shops.
I have a similar yarn spinner and i love it so much. My husband bought it for me because he would see me pause to pull yarn off the skein and thought this would help me not have to keep stopping. He was right and I appreciate him so much for his observations

For the purple hooks, maybe you can pull the hooks out of the bad grip casing and then put the metal hooks themselves into the pencil grips.

I love my yarn spinner so much. Mine is a duel spinner--one side is for larger skeins and the other for smaller cakes.

If you have that stretchy medical tape you can use that to alter the shape of the handle of those crochet hooks. Those are a nice budget method of bulking up your hooks the way you want.

I am currently working on a horse plushie for a friend's granddaughter. I was working on the hair during this video. I always love you content because I can tell you put a lot of effort into making engaging and open content. You don't sugarcoat things or be overly negative. Although I can disagree with some of your yarn dislikes, that doesn't mean I don't understand your perspective. Rachel, keep doing what you're doing! I always get really excited when I can work on my crochet project and watch your videos. 😁💕

For the cake yarn you would've needed to grab the outer edge, since the point of the spinner is to help with turning the yarn. With an inner pull, the yarn doesn't spin, so you don't need a spinner, hehe ^^

edit: commented too soon LOL (as you even mentioned) oops. glad you were able to enjoy it though!!

The hubby and I had a challenge where he went into Walmart without me, picked yarn and I had to make something. So I was working on a pair of mittens with the Lion Brand Hometown that he bought while watching your video 😁

The other thing about chemicals is... If you order something from outside the US or Europe, they might just have put that "Oeko-tex" label on there, without it actually haven been tested or anything. Like if you order electronics and they are marked with "CE", if you can't trust the seller, you can't trust the product. And I would definitely not trust TikTok shops and the like. Most of it is probably dropshipping from places that don't have stricked regulations.

Sitting here designing my own sweater

I'm a "pencil-grip" crocheter and I think I'll try those purple hooks! The shape looks good to me and I love purple 😊

You should try out European yarns ! I only know the most popular brands for where I’m from : Phildar, Katia, DMC, Pingouin, Ricorumi.
It’d be fun to see, because we don’t have any of the yarn you’re used to reviewing
