Evolutionary Biologist Reacts to Creationist Arguments

Clint's Reptiles

301,445 views

Biological evolution is broadly accepted by the scientific community. That said, a large number of people and organizations, especially the Young Earth Creationists, are highly skeptical of evolution. Creationists frequently challenge the assertions of evolution, and evolution's legitimacy as a scientific theory. But do they have a point? Let's take a look at some of their most common arguments and see if they are valid, or if they are not.

We know about the error at 28:48. We fixed the problem, but the comments on this video were too wonderful to delete. Thus it shall remain!

I like the first argument. "Cheetahs are fast, so they can't be a product of evolution, because evolution is slow." Yeah, this is exactly how things work...

@mohbomran7087 5 days ago

The first argument is genuinely so mind numbing it's crazy 😭

Hi Clint, I'm an ex-LDS member, now Atheist. I want to tell you how much I appreciate how you treat people who talk poorly of Atheists. And I appreciate your willingness to explain how to have a proper conversation with an Atheist. I also appreciate your understanding of how and what often makes an Atheist, having previously been one yourself.
The world would be a lot happier if people could make an effort to understand those we don't understand, instead of writing them off as "stupid". Thank you

"I don't believe that humans develop for 9 months in the womb, because they die in a split second"
is how it sounds when they confuse evolution with fossiles

Kent doesn't misunderstand.
He is deliberately misleading.
The man spent a decade in prison for lying and fraud, it's overly charitable to consider him as honest in his "Belief".
It's also important to consider that all of his income is derived from his "Ministry".

I knew steve harvey wasn’t well educated but DAMN

As an atheist, I absolutely love these videos precisely because you, Clint, are religious. Your willingness to confront contradictions of faith and evidence is an example of what it means to seriously think about an issue without holding a presupposed conclusion. Yes, it’s possible for two reasonable people to reach different conclusions based on their interpretation of the evidence (atheist me was raised Catholic), but it’s impossible to reach a conclusion other than your desired goal if you only accept evidence that supports that goal. Good examination demands looking at argumentation that could counter your understanding of the matter. It’s called education, and that is something you excel at (among many other things).
I love these videos and recommend them to all my friends, whatever their religious (non-)affiliation. Thankyouthankyouthankyou for the effort put forth in making them!

I hope you still enjoy making these videos and don't feel you have to do them because of the algorithm. I like these as much as the pet series or the ones about one specific species. I learn much from all of them. Thank you 😊

This channel has single-handedly sparked my interest in biology.

You see, the recipe for cooking a hamburger calls for ground beef. But cows are living animals that have bones and organs. If you tried to cook a living cow, it would never become a hamburger. That’s why cooking is impossible.

Yikes. That first creationist argument is almost as spotty as this one that I just made up for fun.

Pro tip: if you're gonna call people idiots, don't immediately proceed to say something completely idiotic.

Steve Harvey is a good example you never argue with a fool

Protoceratops last thoughts: "Man, it's been raining for weeks and the water is up to my neck now. Shortly, the water will be over my nose and I'll drown. What shall I do in the last moments of my life? I think I'll get into a fight with that velociraptor over there."

I wish more people would be like Clint. Make an argument with intellectual honesty and respect... oh, and intelligence, facts, open mindedness and humility.

@psilocix 4 days ago

This gives a whole new meaning to the term 'bad faith argument'.

@sparkysaurus_cj 5 days ago

People who "care more about looking right than being right" is such a good, concise way of describing the folks making these creationist arguments 👏🏽

@stefanhaffner 5 days ago

Kent knows what he is doing. He's been corrected hundreds of times. He's been corrected and then straight away uses the same argument next debate.

21:36 This is like saying that because modern power plants use computers as part of their control systems, but computers require power to operate, there is no way humans could ever have generated electricity.

Nice! I am a Christian who accepts evolution and these videos I like a lot especially since in the videos you talk about how to make sure to steel man and understand other peoples perspectives.
