I was never so glad to see the back of Motherwell when i left in 1976. Good to get back for a visit to friends and family, but that's about it.

Aw man, I remember going the Merlin back in like 2008 when it was still the Motherwell Point or something but it closed soon after. When I lived there my local watering hole was the Electric Bar though, but it was easy to make a pub crawl back in the days, like 2012, you could start in the Electric Bar, go up to the Jack Daniels Sports bar, from there drink your way down Windmillhill Street: Windmill Tavern, New Century Bar, the Brandons, The Daziel Arms. Then though the Brandon Parade and drink your way up Merry Street with the Horseshoe Bar, The Railway Tavern, The Wetherspoons - double up for a pound, anyone remember that?, The Woodcutter, Burns Tavern before it downsized.... I miss those days, when I could still survive a hangover, haven't been shitfaced since 2018.

Class! Greggs outside dining area absolute quality!

The best bar was Rubens lounge in the late 80's it was located downstairs at the Garrion hotel, Many weekend was spent there till the early hours before heading to the fly over to get a taxi.

Thank you. Motherwell looks safe and litter free. Good to see the high street and pubs still doing ok.

That's a good hi street by the looks of it

Left in 82" been back a few times, looks quiet.

Motherwells shopping centre has been voted best shopping centre in Europe for the last 18 years.

Motherwell is Class

If u ever get round to doing coatbridge please visit the st Andrews pub.that was the pub my father bought me my first pint and I would love to see it again.been living in south Africa for 45yrs

The eagle inn was the best pub ,especially when run by the perry family over twenty years ago, great days and nights!!  God rest you John Perry you were a 🌟

Motherwell Library is Historical Building and has a lift to very modern Bistro. Also theres Clydesdale Bank nearby. You didnt seem to go down that route but your video is fantastic.  Not too many closures. I am 78 and went to functions at old rebuilt as something else The Garrion Hotel.  Theres The Railway Station too. The Huge Church with Glo Centre and Restaurant hidden across from Railway..Your video shows Primark & Greggs & B & M still there plus lots my old haunts and also great inside videowork of clean bright friendly Pubs.
Thank you for all the effort here.

I didn’t realise that the shopping centre you went through from the beginning was where Brandon Street used to be until you reached what was known as Motherwell Cross. I’m devastated. There’s nothing left of Brandon Street now. I remember when there was a railing either side to make a walkway, diagonally on Motherwell Cross. I remember it before the path was made. My dad took me from Merry Street round into Brandon Street to get the bus to Lanark. The whole place has been vandalised with not an old building left.

Railway Tavern is a pure dive wipe ur feet on way out

"Its Shite being Scoatash!"

The pub you went in - the Railway Arms?  is the only Celtic pub I think.  Some of the better ones are further up the road from the precinct.  Definitely the War Office if you want to see Rangers games but also Motherwell-friendly and near Airbles Road and the stadium are those we used to refer to as mixed (i.e. Motherwell-Rangers).  I left in 1977 but came back in 2018.  The Main thing is like is the compactness of everything in the town centre.  I left for the countryside a few years ago, and that's what I miss. Thanks for the video.

Showing more of Calderwood n the village than you did of East Mains . I grew up there n know it very well . Born n still live in EK .

Motherwell is a pretty decent town actually. The areas around the park up To Airbles and Hamilton Road are pretty lush for North Lanarkshire.

Best pub by far is the New Century in windmill st.
