If silk paper strip pictures taught me anything, it's that skies are the colours you have or can make in layering. Honestly, it's a very pretty sky you've made.

This is a great craft idea. I go to a social day program for senior citizens, most of whom are disabled in various ways. The folks who operate the program are always looking for ideas to help us retain our fine motor skills, and this really fits the bill. The gal who comes up with craft ideas is always looking for something new. For example, last week we made stone bowls, as in bowls made out of stones and glue. She'd found a YouTube video showing how to do it, and so we tried it. Though she got the wrong size stones. She got gravel size stones like what you'd use in a driveway or a garden path. The stones in the video were closer to the size of a quarter. Mine came out more like a saucer rather than a bowl. So yeah, I'll be letting her know about this. In fact, we have a bunch of yarn laying about our house, and I have some canvas boards and glue, so I'm going to attempt some yarn art over this weekend so I can show her on Monday. Thanks for a great idea.

15:17 In case anyone is curious, the reason there's multiple loops and stuff around the yarn is to keep it all bundled together while it's getting dyed. That's really common to see with hand dyed stuff

I know it as yarn painting. Also something I've been wanting to try. Maybe now I will.

Edit: Okay. As soon as I finish my current line up of projects, I am definitely going to give yarn painting a try.

Your glue-and-yarn vicious cycle definitely reminds me of the problem we French people have when eating cheese and bread: you finish the cheese and find yourself with extra bread; so you grab a little more cheese but then need more bread… 😆

I mix The Scream and Starry Night paintings together in my mind all the time. My brain tries to tell me that Starry Night is the background of the Scream.
My area is dealing with all the corn sweat.

I started yelling at the video when you placed the yarn at 17:28 because I knew you would have to cut the sky yarn to fill it in.  The way you calmly accepted that without getting upset was great.  Sometimes crafting means going with the flow and changing midstream.

I thought the sky could have been the northern lights, if you call the sun the moon instead.

Thank you Charlie. The memories of my childhood came flooding back. I remember Mum getting me yarn and cardboard and I made a coaster set using this technique. Back in the mid 1970’s. I’d forgotten how much fun I had. Spent a whole school holidays doing it. 🩷💛💚💙
