I left 5 years ago and never looked back. I am a Colorado native and I lived there for 45 years. Back in the day, it was a great state to live in. I loved Denver! It has changed, itās becoming apartments and condos everywhere. I mean everywhere! The people are rude, the traffic is horrible, itās crowded, expensive, and thereās no where to go for peace and quiet! The mountains are crowded, the parks are too. Iām a southern girl now and I love it!
I was born and raised in South Denver proper and lived there until I was 54. My husband was born and raised in Parker, we both agreed that Denver had become unrecognizable to us and the crime is South Denver was just getting too high, the traffic was also terrible all the time even on the weekends. We left in 2017 and I dread ever going back, we still have family there so we plan to visit in 10/25 for the first time since 2017.
I don't get how anyone can say, "475 is a reasonable price for a home"... When you look at the mortgage payment on that at current interest rates, it is completely unaffordable for 95% of the population...
Interesting review. We're not CO natives, but have now lived here for 3 decades this time around. At the turn of the century we built a home about 25 miles south of Denver, and while continuous development has been bringing the city southward, Douglas County is still a decent place to live. We all know Denver has spiraled downward over the years and the state is in competition with CA for which can do the most stupid stuff, but we haven't caught up with them just yet. We avoid Denver as much as possible. Home construction is expensive here and it's definitely getting crowded. I've seen a fair amount of the country in 70 years and it's just a fact that anyplace nice will attract people and they will ruin it. CO is definitely no exception. Fortunately we're on 5 acres for breathing space with very nice neighbors at respectable distances, and being retired we can make our 4x4 off road outings to the mountains on weekdays while the less fortunate fight the traffic and crowds. We have no plans to leave, but it would be nice if the souls moving here would stop trying to make CO into what they left behind. ā¹ļø
We have 5 generations of living here. When I was growing up here as people came and went I have been saying since I was a teenager, "They come and they go." This will always be true because people cannot run from their own selves, but they sure do try. Life is what you make it so my grandpa being 103 and the best Patriarch of a beautiful family and all the beautiful people of the remaining 4 living generations are so sweet that I won't go. Bloom where you were planted throughout the good and bad times and you will grow strong and as unmoveable as the oak tree that withstands a hurricane. People were sold a pipe dream about how wonderful this place is or that place to line the pockets of the rich. They were sold a lie and a bridge that leads them to the next place or right back where they came from. Wherever you stay or go, my advice is to love your neighbor as you love yourself and although you may not agree with everyone's politics or their lifestyle, be kind in influencing change for the better. The only person we have to answer for is ourselves and that lightens the load. Best wishes for each and every person in the comments or on a journey to find their place!
Im leaving Colorado. Ive been in Boulder for close to 10 years. I Had no idea how horrible the people are when I moved here. These people would sell their own mothers to make a buck. Moving here was the worst decision of my life. I cant wait until this place is just a distant nightmare.
I live in Brighton Colorado. I've lived here 40 years my whole life. The house my grandma bought was $34,000.00 3 bed 2 bath that was in the 60s now her house is $300,000.00 there's actually no affordability left in Colorado thanks to everybody moving into Colorado from let's say California
I just moved to Denver. At first, I rented a room, thinking there were only a few people in the house. I would try that? Found out there were 10 people living in it!!! It was backed up to a golf course, so you are thinking $$$$⦠nope, all the homes in that area are being rented out to multiple people. Grass overgrown and bushes needing trimmed. Cars parked on both sides of the sidewalk streets. These HOAās need to stop that. Ruins neighborhoods.
