In this video, we react to the 4 Bloods of Britain, the Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans! We had no idea there were so many different tribes and peoples even within these groups, or that people like the Picts were actually considered Celts. That's wild!

It's honestly mindblowing how many different peoples came together over thousands of years to create the Britain we know today. Celt, Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Norman... who are the British really?! Let us know where you're from and what you know about your own British ancestry in the comments below! 👇

Can you see now, why when you ask a British person about the American Revolution, they just see it as a side note?

The part showing some French words that came into the English language made me remember a clip I saw of George W Bush saying "The problem with the French is that they have no word for 'entrepreneur'" which is another French word.

That's basically why we have so many different accents and languages

This video just covers the last 1000 years. People have been living here since the last ice age.

English is what happens when Vikings learn Latin and use it to shout at Germans and then the French shout back 😂

Thanks Steve & Lindsey, I didn't know some of this. I think the Saxons came from Saxony which is now part of Germany. The Jutes I think came from Jutland which is now Denmark.

Only 15,000 years ago we were covered in ice, nobody was living here. Not much over 6 thousand years ago we were still attached to mainland Europe. 4 1/2 thousand years ago the Beaker People arrived. They came from approximately the same place as Borat, creating the Angles & Saxons along the way. Those "Ancient Brits" were as closely related to one another as we are to them.

I am from England. I have been studying my family tree for almost 30 years. When i did an ancestry dna test 3 years ago it confirmed some of what i knew and threw up questions about other results, over time ancestry have updated my results and they now make more sense. Broadly speaking it puts me as 44% celtic and gaelic, 37% england, 9% north west germany, 6% east european roma, 2% denmark and 2% norway. These results mostly match the records in my family tree.

I’m from an isolated part of Great Britain, I have 25% primitive North West European DNA, they were the first settlers after the Ice Age around 20,000 years ago, they were there before the Celts, before the beaker people and before the builders of Skara Brae or the stone circles.

I'm 76 years old and just recently found my ancestry, it made fascinating reading for me,
"The surname Goodwin was first found in Yorkshire where they held a family seat from very early times. Godwin or Godwine (d. 1053) was the Earl of Wessex, chief adviser to King Canute, who held great wealth and lands in those times. His son Harold Godwinson (circa 1022-1066) was Harold II of England, the last Anglo-Saxon King of England, killed on October 14 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. Godwin, or Godwine was also the name of an 11th century Bishop of Lichfield, who died in .1020."

This is funny.
We are everything condensed into a singularity.
I'll take everything that made me all that I am today. Proud of it.
Very happy to share our culture and history with anyone. I would gently suggest that no-one annoys us 😅
