Thanks for watching everyone! Matt should be giving his "updated" review on this comment thread. Also, the first episode of Arcane is available for free on Patreon right now if you'd like to check that out!

matt is the type of audience member that studios are trying to cater to and hold their hands throughout the movie

People don’t talk about this movie enough

So the writer of this film explained what the structure they found in the cave was during a panel at some convention. It was apparently an endangered prehistoric organism native to Earth, that has the ability to manipulate things electromagnetically. This is how it moves around since it's essentially just a living rock. When the boys found it, it was dying and had burrowed closer to the surface of the Earth, creating the tunnel. When Steve interacted with it, it saw him as a food source and tried to eat them (Steve's sweat being pulled toward it), but died during the process, transferring its powers to them.

The writer had a trilogy planned where another prehistoric rock that was responsible for injuring the one we see in this movie telepathically enslaves and controls hordes of humans, turning them into telekinetic mindless drones with it as their queen.

Showing Matt movies is like trying to get my parents to enjoy a movie. Don't take it too seriously try and lose yourself in it.

With Matt’s comment on it being “stupid” that the movie never explains the alien stuff, I don’t think the alien stuff needs to be explained because that’s not the focus of the movie, the characters are & we’re seeing the world through their perspective/lens(Pun intended). Not everything needs an exposition & it’s best to leave things ambiguous.

Plot/theme is: power doesnt make you a hero, or a “Great” being. It simply amplifies what was already there.
( who they are as a person)

Don’t know why reactors are starting to react to this again but I love it.

That final moment of andrew screaming like an animal and everything just shaking seems almost real to me. I know its cgi but the actors perfomance really feels like hes straining every atom in his body

Fun fact: Director Josh Trank made Dane DeHaan, Michael B. Jordan, and Alex Russell live in a house together for fifteen days, in order to create a genuine bond between the three actors. The movie was also supposed to be a lot more darker but they didn’t want to make it R rated due to loss of audiences and budgetary reasons.

We may need to rename this series to "My Homeboy watches." lol Matt cracks me up.

I honestly thought Matt would like this movie more than anything he's seen. The best thing about this movie is that it's just so entertaining and it's gripping. Andrew had one of the most reasonable crash outs imo. If people did get superpowers this is how realistic it would be, that's what makes it such a great movie. This movie is a 9/10 for me.

It’s like Matt watches to find what’s wrong with a movie rather than watching to turn your brain off and purely enjoy it for a second

Before we had MBJ as Human Torch & Killmonger and Dane Dehaan as Green Goblin, they had telekinesis powers in Chronicle

The way I just got so freakin excited and nervous at the same time, One of my favorite movies and I’m scared Matt is gonna tear it down. 😂

16:05 The "Yes it was the black guy this time" line always make me laugh

Someone in the comments said “this is the type of movie where the rewatch makes it even better” and I can totally understand that.

I am very grateful for this movie. It challenged me to not be spoonfed everything. In the moment, it was very confusing though.

I admit, I am not a mature viewer. And for anyone that I piss off for my reactions, I cannot apologize, but I will say that I understand why it would feel like a personal attack. But please know that that’s never the intention.

I agree now that the superpowers did not need to be explained. But during watching the movie, I was doing my best to latch onto anything that felt like a typically shot movie.

This was an extremely creative flick and I have a feeling that it will be a great steppingstone for any other movies like it.

I will give this a 7 because I am now able to give it a more broad view.

Interestingly, Andrew's father was suppose to die in the original script for this film. The whole scene with Andrew pulling apart that spider was suppose to foreshadow what Andrew was going to do with his own father.

Damn, everybody’s watching Chronicle.
Awesome movie. Revisiting this makes me long for a sequel
