I Hate Zelda In Smash.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a breath of fresh air for the Zelda series, and with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's inevitable sequel drawing closer with the Nintendo Switch 2, now's the perfect time to take another look at Zelda as Smash fighter. To keep things simple: there's a LOT Echoes of Wisdom can add here.

Thanks for watching! This completes the Link/Ganondorf/Zelda Triforce of moveset reworks on the channel, which were pretty intense videos to make but a lot of fun as well! I'm not sure if/when I'll dive into some of the side characters like the other Links or even non-Zelda characters, it'll partially depend on what demand looks like, so please leave your feedback!

Bind sounds like the perfect stupid toxic move to fish for kills in FFA’s with by walking your opponent off the stage on walk-offs. I love it

Sakurai has talked about how much additional effort Kirby's copy ability requires. I can't really imagine them wanting to go anywhere near an ability that lets you copy literally any move from any fighter.

I choose to believe that your version of Zelda's final smash utilizes the previously unheard of discipline of Ceiling Magic.

This seems like a nightmare to bug fix, but pretty fun

Costumes 1, 5, and 6 kinda blend together (at least in the chibi artstyle). You could definitely replace one of them with a Hilda or Twilight Princess alt.

I like a lot of the ideas, but I feel like copying fighters and every projectile and item feels… muddled. Like it has weird overlap with her other native echo abilities.

10:56 No way you did the "Sonic spawning 2 Flickies" down smash thing 😭

I need more character overhaul videos. They’re so clean.

Or just imagining what certain characters not in the game would play like.

If Ultimate couldn't get Rex and his swords working together without problems, not sure if the next game would be able to handle Zelda summoning other fighters to perform moves

This whole thing feels way too bloated and clunky to work as a moveset. I'd like to see ONE or TWO of her specials/normal moves make use of her Echo abilities, but her whole character doesn't need to be oriented around it. Especially with her TOTK time magic, there's more potential to make a more wisdom/manipulator archetype without JUST relying on this.

I like how mockrock committing to making one of these every time a new zelda game comes out, ocarina of time interquel anyone?
On a more serious note, as someone who has learned most of what they know about the zelda series from your smash rework videos, it was kind of shame that this one had to focus so much on one game. But that was obviously inevitable to an extent, so I'm fine with it.

While I enjoy the aesthetic choices and most of the gameplay / moveset ones, I can't help but feel like her own native echoes and the echoes of items / fighters / etc would be competing with each other too much and make learning her too much of a commitment for most players. I think it'd be better to choose one or the other to focus on, and I feel having her own dedicated echoes is a more interesting and manageable route to take.

The move art was really great I'm this video!

A non reference summon character all about summoning... my senses are confused.

Oh I adore this concept. A resource management, set up, semi puppet character with a by character freeform combo expression? That sounds fun as heck. And my Lizvos being part of a combo throw? Which is funny as it was one of my most used ones for damage going with proper range it would attack instantly and I even thought it felt like a move in a fhgitng game summoning them one after another.

I know it would be too much work, but the ideas got me hyped. But if anything I DO want that final smash. It feels right.

Also having up smash be a nod yo Tetra is a great touch. I always thiught that was when Zelda really started to gain a personality and shaking fully from passivity.

@Horn3dL1zard 1 year ago

For the final smash she could have also turned into the totk dragon. That would be pretty sick!

I would actually want Zelda to retain Phantom Slash but changed so that it’s summoning a darknut from echoes using the Tri Rod cuz it actually makes sense for Zelda to use the darknut as a summon now. They’d bviously have to rebalance it but it would be a cool way to make that move more like a canon ability in the franchise. Zelda would still need to be changed so she’s not almost entirely depending on her down special like she is now but still.

I personally really dislike the idea of taking away her teleport as well. Nayru’s Love being replaced by recall is fine and Din’s Fire was never a great move but her teleport is one of my personal favorite moves on her and really adds to the whole “mage” thing she’s going for

@FierceGalactaKnight 1 year ago

I don't want my basic combo and pressure tools in neutral to cause my other echoes to despawn. For smash attacks, sure. But for aerials and tilts, I'd rather not involve the Echoes at all.
I would use the automatons for her aerials, some they don't use tri power at all
