Fun fact: Dorothy was a Marine.

R.I.P to all these 4 wonderful women.

Dude. You need to watch the Golden Girls. They raised awareness on topics that no one wanted to touch in the 1980’s. And they did it in such an intelligent way.

FYI, "Dorothy" and Betty White, AKA "Rose", were military veterans.

One of the classic GG lines:

ROSE: Can I ask a dumb question?
DOROTHY: Better than anyone I know.

This is how the line goes...Dorothy says, Condoms Rose! Condoms! Condoms! and the
pharmacist says "Calm down lady, you just get outta prison?  🤣🤣🤣

they explained in the first episode when sophia joined the cast was that she had a stroke that destroyed her internal filter for tact, and that's why she would say just whatever is on top of her head; it's also why her daughter can demonstrate where she inherited that from.

edit: the editors of Dungeons & Dragons admitted one of their editions (5th, i think?) was built around their idea of the perfect adventuring party being the golden girls

My Chinese step mother's English got good enough to understand double entendras and double meanings a few years ago. My dad says she made him watch the Golden Girls multiple times through, she LOVES mean humor like that. I introduced her to 'The Nanny' and Niels was her favorite person for a while.

Sofia was the savage on the show. I loved her so much. If you can find a video of just her going off, it would be worth watching.

The humour of the Golden Girls holds up today. It aged very well. One of the funniest shows ever, and I grew up watching it, as well as Perfect Strangers.

"I'm sorry, it must be decaf."

What made the Golden girls so successful was not only the amazing writing, but those women were powerhouses in the acting industry.... Collectively they have tons of awards and they have worked on Broadway and many famous TV series.
Their timing and professionalism is unsurpassed.

I loved the way Dorothy could "cut her eyes" at you and not say a word, but she put you in your place LOL.

Next:  Search for "Great Herring War."  Rose tells a story and the others absolutely crack up.

Golden Girls are absolutely HYSTERICAL!!! Way ahead of their time with their comments LOL

You missed Blanche getting upset about Dorothy saying 'Rose is the easiest woman in this room.' as you were speaking at the same time. Blanche said: 'Dorothy Zbornak, you take that back!' 😂

The Golden Girls was an amazing show. It has stood the test of time and is still relevant today.

I hope you noticed that Dorothy was the same actress who played in the episode of All In The Family you watched. She sang Good Morning Good Morning while Archie was sleeping. Her name is Bea Arthur and she is a tv legend.

the actress who played Dorothy was a Marine during the war. The raw attitude

The key to the Golden Girls was how different each one was.  Each one set up a joke, even though Dorothy told the most jokes.
