Bike Park Wales just got a LOT more serious! Bigger jumps, massive whips, steep switchbacks and technical roots as we head out in search of Bike Park Wales’ best trails. And this time, the Welsh weather has joined us too! 🌧️

After a dry first day, we’re back for another uplift day with rain, wet trails and a very different feel in the woods. I’m riding my Rocky Mountain Altitude alongside Mike, Declan and Kurt, chasing the lads, working on my jumping and finding out which trails really make this place special.

We start with another run down Melted Welly, leading into Off Grid, before exploring more flowing blue trails, red jump lines and demanding technical descents. There’s plenty of variety, plenty of laughs and a few moments where I’m wondering what I’ve got myself into!

Mike takes over filming duties to chase Declan down Insufficient Funds, capturing some brilliant jumping and massive whips. When Mike gets behind me with the camera, I’m doing everything I can to ride fast and look good. Easier said than done when you’re trying to hang on to the faster lads 😂

Double Barrel brings the doubles, Snakebite brings the rocky technical riding, Groot brings the roots, and Bonneyville serves up tight, steep switchbacks. We revisit Blue Belle too, mix in Sixtapod and The Funnel, then step things up on Zut Alors with some huge gaps and step ups that look plenty big enough from behind the handlebars!

The rain adds another element to the day. Wet roots, damp ground and water on the camera lens make it a proper Welsh mountain biking experience, but there’s still loads of fun to be had. From flowing blue runs to the harder red trails, we keep riding and pushing ourselves throughout the day.

Then comes Root Manoeuvres… and for me, we really did save the best till last.

This was my favourite trail of the whole weekend. Steep, rooty and seriously technical, it’s the sort of riding I absolutely love. I reckon it would feel right at home among the black trails I’ve ridden elsewhere! All that Lake District riding helped me feel comfortable with the rough stuff, and there are sections here I’m really pleased with.

Obviously, I still managed to crash off a drop. Wouldn’t want to finish the weekend looking too competent 😂

Root Manoeuvres is my personal pick, but the fun of Bike Park Wales is finding the trails that suit YOUR riding. You might love the flowing blues, the jump lines, the rocky sections or the steep roots. This video follows our search across a full day of riding, with progression, nerves, good runs and the occasional mistake along the way.

Trails featured in this day two video:
• Melted Welly
• Off Grid
• Forest Bump
• Double Barrel
• Snakebite
• Groot
• Bonneyville
• Blue Belle
• Insufficient Funds
• Sixtapod
• The Funnel
• Zut Alors
• Root Manoeuvres

Some of these trails are absolutely massive. I’ve shortened the runs for the video, but you really need to visit and ride them yourself to appreciate how long the descents are. There’s a lot more to each run than a few highlights can show, and by the bottom you certainly know you’ve been riding!

If you’re planning a Bike Park Wales uplift trip, wondering what riding it in the rain feels like, or looking for blue trails, red MTB jump lines and technical descents, come along for a proper day out with the lads.

Our first Bike Park Wales video is also on the channel, covering the dry opening day of this weekend. Watch that for more trails, jumping progression and quarry skills area antics, then join us here as things get a lot more serious!

What’s YOUR favourite trail at Bike Park Wales? Does Root Manoeuvres get your vote, or is there another one we need to ride next time? Let me know in the comments 👇

🚵 What This Channel Is About
This is just real MTB riding

Most of it is big Lake District days mixed in with trail centres, hidden routes, natural descents, bridleways, and off piste sections you won’t find on a map

I’m always trying new things and different bits of tech, so expect plenty of interesting gear along the way
