Poor Alexei, he was doomed anyway with his haemophilia. Spent his whole life suffering agonising pain because of bleeds, was crippled because of it -let's face it, he was 13 and his father had to carry him like a small child into that cellar.  And then to die like that, shot and hacked apart after seeing his family murdered.

The Russian Revolution makes the American one look like a tea party
So much death and destruction
That not even the Royals or their CHILDREN escaped the violence

They didn't have to do that to the children.

"Stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the Tsar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain"

You filled in gaps that were not addressed in school. I don’t know if I should thank you…

Thank you for not turning this into a nefarious story about Alexandria and Rasputin. There are so many stories I have watched on this that tell the information, but focus more on Rasputin than Nikolas or the nightmare of the peasants & the Imperial family during this time in history.

Germany didn't "allow him to pass" - we SHIPPED HIM THERE in a railway-carriage that was sealed up, so he could only leave once he reached his destination!

Damn. They even got the dog.

I’m going through a tough rough of chemo, and your narratives have been my saving Grace. Thank you, young man, for your impeccable attention to detail and adherence to facts. You’re helping this old, history teacher more than you know.

I really enjoy listening to the way you tell these stories, in particular this one. I didn’t even realize until the end that there was no mention of Rasputin, which is a great thing. He was not necessary to the story. I feel the compassion in your voice when you were talking about the children. Quite heart-warming.

The shooters were such idiots . Couldn't even shoot properly

Just an after thought… your story made it clear that Anastasia was killed. Yet rumors existed for years that she escaped and was seen in Europe more than Elvis Presley in a Memphis diner. I understand people don’t want to believe reality and in their desperation - in this case that the Romanov Dynasty had ended - they misidentified someone they saw. But why Anastasia? Why not any of the other children? If there is enough info out there, this would be a great follow-on to this video. Thank you, your work is outstanding! 🙂

I knew their deaths were brutal but that’s barbaric.

dang, alone on a Friday night, a cold beer and a new Flashback History video!! SWEET!!

Who needs a social life anyhow?!?! LOL

The Czar can thank his cousin and look-alike, King George of England, for not letting The Czar come to the U.K.; that fact doomed the Czar's fate. The Czar had his head so far up his arse that he was beyond reforming.

34:19 They actually found the bodies in 1991 with a fairly high degree of certainty based on mitochondrial DNA that they were, in fact, the bodies of the Romanovs. So not quite gone once and for all. Great video!

What I've learned from history is: Never piss off anybody named Alexander, Henry, Vladimir, Charles, Nicholas or Richard NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY YOU'RE IN!!! 🏃‍♀️👩‍🚀🚀🌌

Wow. So well written. You’re one of the best video essayists on YouTube

You're a great story teller and let's hope you continue to do so. When the poor and otherwise disenfranchised take revenge, it's both poetic and terrible.

The Czar saw red, then they all lay dead.  Nothing rhymes with Anastasia.
Winter time none shall know him.  A truly bad and confusing poem.
