Great video of your new ride and new discipline. Your dirt bike experience clearly comes through in some of that terrain you opted to tackle on a new foray into the ADV world. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more videos like this.

KTM will neverever built something better than this! I love my 1090R

You did it!  Turned it into a trials bike!  Glad you stopped before going over the edge.  Thanks for a honest look into reality.  Great video!

I have a 2018, love it!  I'm 6'4", finally found a bike that fits me without mods!

I would.... replace with double take mirrors, add fog light, and heated grips.  Due to length of bike, its difficult to lift the bike back up, if you can ride with buddy.

I totally agree, sit or stand, do whatever is comfortable. I mostly stand while riding off road, but I sit when I can for sure.

Great video! enjoy that great bike, thanks! I'm saving for a 1090R

I've had a few bikes and the 1090R is probably my favorite, just a great all rounder and I prefer her to the smaller 790.

They are chattery if you don't have a lot of sag but it can take bigger hits in 'chattery' mode, take the preload off to the 'comfort setting' in the manual and it feels more forgiving

Great vid!

Love my 1090R... very capable off-road, and big enough for two up.

I agree to some extent sitting down, lets me lock into the bike more to force the controls if need be over slow ruff terrain. I’m also closer to the ground in case I need to push off or get off. That being said if you hit the same spot standing up twice as hard, it seems to be twice as smooth since you’re only hitting half the bumps and your legs are acting as suspension too.

Well that doesn´t even look newbielike ;-)
Cheers out of the KTM homeland from a still satisfied 1050 (2015) rider.

Man, it's not an easy trail for your first time ahah you do it well!

20:00 would have been a great spot for the old side stand spin. 😂

I know those trails and roads. Not easy on a big bike!

I wish I could find that crossbar that's on your left side pannier. Anyone know where to get that? They look like Tusk racks which I have but mine don't have the crossbar (I want to mount a 1 gallon Rotopax can). Also- what kind of tires are those on the bike now? They look pretty aggressive but you're riding much harder/steep/loose shit than you're giving yourself credit for! Also I just want to say - I have a 2015 1190 R and everything you said here about your 1090 R is spot on accurate. Great job on this video/review! I hit the subscribe button keep up the great work!

I’m a KTM 450XCF-W rider and looking at one of these and some other options (T7, DesertX, 890, 690, even new 390). I live in UT if that helps with type of terrain. Thoughts after your few months of ownership? Thanks in advance.

Why do all Ktm engines sound like a bag of rocks in a dryer

If you’re used to riding a dirt bike, I wouldn’t say you really are a "newbie". 1 minute into the video and I see you riding a track like it's nothing.
